These qualifications ensure efficient, reliable installations and help maintain high standards for network performance and safety.

What is a data cabling contract?

A Data Cabling Contract job involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of structured cabling systems that support data, voice, and video communications. Contractors work with fiber optic and copper cables to connect network devices, ensuring efficient and reliable connectivity. These jobs are often project-based and may involve working in commercial, residential, or industrial settings. Responsibilities include testing, troubleshooting, and adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.

What is the typical work environment for a data cabling contract?

Professionals in Data Cabling Contract roles often work at varied sites, including office buildings, data centers, schools, and construction zones, frequently moving between projects as needed. The job may involve working in confined spaces, above ceilings, or below floors, and sometimes requires travel to multiple client locations within a region. Teams are generally collaborative, coordinating with project managers, IT staff, and other trades such as electricians to meet installation timelines. Job description

Why Tractable?
We combine world-class AI research with real-world applications that make a difference. At Tractable, you'll collaborate with brilliant minds, work on transformative projects, and contribute to technology that helps people when they need it most.
About the role
We're building LUMA, a drive-through vehicle inspection scanner that combines multi-camera capture, active illumination, and multiple sensor modalities to generate high-fidelity vehicle imagery and measurements.
We have an opening for an Electro‑Mechanical Assembly & Test Technician that will assemble production units at our SLC facility.
What you'll do
  • Install electrical hardware (relays, power distribution units, GFCI outlets) on the scanner frame following wiring diagrams and safety codes
  • Mount and secure electronic sub‑assemblies: embedded compute, USB hubs, PoE switches, sensors and machine‑vision cameras
  • Route, label and strain‑relieve cabling; torque and mark fasteners to spec
  • Flash firmware and run scripted diagnostics on cameras and compute modules
  • Execute final functional tests by driving vehicles through the scanner and logging image/sensor data; troubleshoot and document anomalies
  • Complete QA checklists in the MES system and sign off units for shipment
  • Provide feedback to engineering on build pain points; suggest fixture or kitting improvements to shorten assembly time and improve quality
  • Maintain an ESD‑safe bench and follow IPC‑A‑610, OSHA and company safety practices

What we're looking for
  • 2+ years electro‑mechanical assembly, field‑service or technician experience
  • Able to read basic electrical schematics, wiring schedules and mechanical exploded views
  • Proficient with hand tools, torque drivers, crimp/ferrule tools; comfortable with light soldering
  • Basic computer literacy: can use Windows/Linux command line to run scripts or update firmware
  • Valid driver's license (company vehicle provided for test passes)
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders or scissor lift when routing overhead cabling

Contract type: Contractor
Compensation: $20-30/hour
Diversity commitment
At Tractable, we are committed to building a diverse team and inclusive workplace where people's varied backgrounds and experiences are valued and recognised.
We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and offer equal opportunities without discrimination.
