Job description

Job Title: Electrical Designer Location: Omaha, NE 68114 Type: 6-month contract with possibility of conversion to permanent Compensation: $55.00 (DOE) Work Model: Onsite Hours: 40 hours/week Security Clearance: Not specified Overview System One is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to work in our client's Omaha Engineering office. Under direction/guidance from project managers, project engineers, or technical services staff, the Electrical Designer will assist in the planning, design and development of electrical construction drawings for various projects. He/she will also research to obtain detailed project and design criteria, provide field support including field verification for retrofit applications, as-built documentation, and provide complete electrical designs for power stations and various industrial plants (Oil & Gas and Petrochemicals). This is a great opportunity to join a respected client in the engineering and construction services sector! Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering drawings and schematics of various electrical systems and components.

  • Utilize sketching and CAD programs (AutoCAD, AVEVA E3D, and MicroStation).

  • Assist in the planning, design, and development of electrical construction drawings for various projects under guidance from project managers and engineers.

  • Research project and design criteria to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Provide field support, including field verification for retrofit applications and as-built documentation.

  • Design complete electrical systems for power stations and industrial plants (Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals).

  • Review manufacturer drawings and resolve physical interferences with project disciplines.

  • Supervise and direct other designers and drafters during project development.

  • Perform design checks to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.

  • Develop material specifications, requisitions for purchase, and contractor scopes of work.

  • Communicate with project electrical engineers and other disciplines to resolve design issues.

  • Support client inquiries with technical expertise.

Requirements

  • Must have 7+ years of experience as an Electrical Designer.

  • Extensive knowledge of grounding, lighting, power design, cable tray, duct bank layouts, and one-line/three-line diagrams.

  • Strong proficiency with CAD programs (AutoCAD, AVEVA E3D, MicroStation).

  • Deep understanding of NEC code and electrical industry standards.

  • Ability to develop detailed electrical construction drawings using 2-D and 3-D CAD models.

  • Independent judgment in utilizing design criteria based on vendor data and project scope.

  • Experience reviewing manufacturer and discipline drawings for interferences.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Judgement and decision-making capabilities.

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in operating a PC and general office software.

  • Senior level CAD operator experience preferred.
