Job Description

The Maintenance Systems & Asset Management Intern will support the Auburn facility's maintenance digitalization efforts during and after the SAP S/4HANA implementation. This role will work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Storeroom personnel to improve equipment master data, preventative maintenance programs, spare parts management, and maintenance planning processes.

The intern will play a key role in establishing accurate asset information within SAP, supporting storeroom optimization, and helping create a sustainable maintenance management system that improves equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

SAP PM Master Data Support

  • Validate and maintain equipment master records within SAP S/4HANA.
  • Assist with creation and verification of functional locations.
  • Support upload and validation of maintenance-related master data.
  • Review equipment hierarchies for accuracy and completeness.
  • Help maintain work center and maintenance planning data.

Preventive Maintenance Program Development

  • Support conversion and setup of preventive maintenance (PM) tasks in SAP.
  • Review existing maintenance plans and standardize frequencies.
  • Assist with development of task lists and maintenance procedures.
  • Verify PM documentation and ensure accuracy of maintenance records.
  • Support reliability improvement initiatives.

Storeroom & Spare Parts Management

  • Assist with spare parts cataloging and standardization.
  • Verify spare parts descriptions, specifications, and inventory attributes.
  • Support SAP material master cleanup activities.
  • Help identify duplicate or obsolete inventory.
  • Assist with organization and optimization of storeroom locations.
  • Support cycle count and inventory accuracy initiatives.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Develop reports and dashboards related to maintenance performance.
  • Analyze equipment history and maintenance trends.
  • Track PM compliance metrics.
  • Support data validation activities during SAP testing and go-live.
  • Prepare management reports and presentations.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in maintenance and engineering improvement projects.
  • Conduct shop floor observations and process mapping.
  • Support 5S initiatives within maintenance and storeroom areas.
  • Document standard work and operating procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify maintenance processes.

Additional Information
  • Must wear steel-toe shoes, safety glasses and earplugs when in manufacturing area.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment and be exposed to low levels of carbon black dust, which may be dirty.
  • Be aware of all safety regulations and the visibility of forklifts on the work floor.
  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE for handling of various materials
