What is a data associate?

Data Associates are professionals who collect, manage, process, and ensure the quality of data within an organization. They often work with databases, spreadsheets, and software tools to organize and validate data, making it accessible and accurate for analysis and reporting. Data Associates may also assist with data entry, cleaning, and basic analysis tasks, supporting teams like data analysts or data scientists. Their work is crucial for maintaining reliable information that drives business decisions.

To thrive as a Data Associate, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid foundation in data management or statistics, often supported by a bachelor's degree in a related field. Data Associates frequently work alongside analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and accessibility. They may be responsible for gathering data from various sources, cleaning datasets, and supporting the data needs of other departments. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as Data Associates often receive requests for reports or data updates and must coordinate with technical and non-technical colleagues to deliver actionable insights. The successful candidate will receive information from Project Managers, Project Assistants, Field Engineers, Superintendents, and other project stakeholders and enter that information into company databases and internal systems. While previous geotechnical or construction experience is beneficial, it is not required. Training and technical support will be provided by our engineering team.

This position will initially be office-based to facilitate training and collaboration. After successful completion of approximately six months in the role, a hybrid work arrangement may be considered.

  • Coordinate with engineers and project teams to resolve missing, unclear, or incomplete information.
  • Ensure data consistency, completeness, and quality within company databases.
  • Assist with document management and electronic record organization.
  • Maintain confidentiality of project and company information.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to data management and workflow processes.

The Engineering Data Coordinator will routinely work with:

  • Geotechnical boring logs
  • Load test results
  • Installation logs
  • As-built records
  • Material test coupons
  • Grout strength test data
  • Project correspondence
  • Soil and laboratory testing information
  • Construction quality control documentation
  • Other project-related engineering and construction records

  • Associate degree or coursework in engineering technology, construction management, business, or a related field
  • Previous data entry, administrative, construction, engineering, or technical documentation experience
  • Experience working with databases or project management software
  • Familiarity with construction, geotechnical, or engineering documentation
