Job description

JOB TITLE: HEALTH TECH LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: Standard classified calendar. LOCATION/WORK SCHEDULE: District classified calendar year and length of day; building assignments and daily schedule based on triage. IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Building School Nurse TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The rate of compensation and benefits will be based on the classified salary schedule and Vallivue employment policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Knowledge of child growth and development.
  3. Interest in the educational setting.
  4. Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed.
  5. Knowledgeable with computer systems.
  6. Works well with students, staff, and the public.
  7. Organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  8. Ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
  9. Maintain the confidentiality of staff and students.
  10. Willingness to take appropriate training for performance responsibilities, including but not limited to:
    • CPR and First Aid Certification
    • Medication Administration Certification
  11. CNA or MA preferred.

JOB GOAL: Under the guidance of the School Nurse, perform a wide variety of healthcare and clerical tasks in the school Health Office.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist with routine health screenings.
  2. Assist in maintaining school health records.
  3. Assist in managing immunization data.
  4. Assist with the administration and management of medication.
  5. Administer minor first aid and call EMS when indicated.
  6. Follow Vallivue protocol and policy.
  7. Follow the guidance provided by the School Nurse.
  8. Complete designated skilled-care tasks such as g-tube feeds and catheterization.
  9. Maintain open communication with the School Nurse.
  10. Perform Health Office clerical duties.
  11. Inventory and restock supplies and equipment.
  12. Provide other related services as assigned.

EVALUATION:
Conducted annually by the School Nurse and Health Services Director.
