Job description

Position Summary... What you'll do...

ABOUT THE ROLE

Walmart's global marketplace business operates across multiple international markets, connecting millions of third-party sellers with customers around the world. This role leads the data analytics function that makes that business measurable, scalable, and trusted — owning the data infrastructure, reporting frameworks, and analytical standards that commercial and operational teams depend on to make decisions and drive growth.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who is equally effective setting direction with executive stakeholders and driving technical execution with their team. A core priority for this position is leading global data standardization efforts — establishing consistent metric definitions, unified data models, and shared business logic that scale as the program grows and evolves across markets.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Global Data Standardization & Governance
  • Lead the design and enforcement of unified data standards including consistent metric definitions, dimension structures, and business logic across all markets.
  • Drive alignment with enterprise analytics and data engineering teams to ensure marketplace data integrates cleanly with broader organizational frameworks.
  • Own data governance practices for the marketplace data domain, including data quality standards, access controls, and documentation.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for data relationships across partner teams, acting as the escalation point for quality issues and coverage gaps.

Analytics Strategy & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Translate complex, multi-market business requirements into a structured analytics roadmap with clear priorities and measurable outcomes.
  • Partner with senior leaders across commercial, financial, and operational functions to deliver timely, trusted analytics that inform strategy and execution.
  • Build and present business cases for analytics investments, articulating return on investment and measurable business impact.
  • Proactively surface gaps in data coverage or analytical capability and drive remediation before they become blockers.

Data Engineering & Infrastructure Oversight
  • Oversee the health, reliability, and evolution of a large-scale pipeline ecosystem spanning sales, logistics, traffic, assortment, and seller data across multiple markets.
  • Guide architecture decisions around unified consumption layers, data migrations, and pipeline consolidation in BigQuery.
  • Ensure new program or market data integrates cleanly into existing unified data models without creating redundant or parallel structures.

Self-Serve BI & Reporting Governance
  • Own the Looker reporting ecosystem - including Explores, dashboards, and the data dictionary — ensuring quality and accessibility for business users across functions.
  • Champion self-serve analytics by designing reporting frameworks that reduce ad-hoc bottlenecks and empower business teams to access trusted data independently.
  • Set and maintain standards for how metrics are defined, calculated, and presented across all dashboards and business reviews.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead and develop a cross-functional analytics team spanning data engineering, business intelligence, and reporting.
  • Establish clear ownership, accountability, and growth paths for each team member through meaningful coaching, feedback, and mentorship.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-performing team environment where associates feel supported, challenged, and set up to do their best work.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Required Experience & Skills
  • 7+ years in data analytics, data engineering, or business intelligence, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Deep proficiency in SQL and BigQuery, with strong working knowledge of Python and data pipeline architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with Looker or a comparable enterprise BI platform, including building and governing data models and dashboards at scale.
  • Demonstrated experience leading data standardization or governance initiatives across multiple business functions or geographies.
  • Track record of translating complex business requirements into scalable analytics solutions with clear, measurable impact.
  • Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional partners and present confidently to senior leadership.

Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience in global or international e-commerce marketplace analytics.
  • Familiarity with cross-border commerce, seller lifecycle data, or logistics analytics.
  • Experience working across US and international data systems simultaneously.
  • Exposure to competitive intelligence or demand signal data sources.

OUR VALUES

We build with integrity, serve our customers and partners first, and hold ourselves to a high standard of data quality and ethical use. We believe in developing talent, maintaining open and honest communication, and creating an environment where every team member can do their best work. We lead with humility, invest in growth, and recognize that great analytics teams are built on trust as much as technical skill.

At Walmart, we offer competitive pay as well as performance-based bonus awards and other great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet.
