Position Description:

Improves the quality and time-to-market of research initiatives for equities, fixed income, and alternative
investments, using quantitative techniques and methods -- advanced econometrics and statistics (probabilities, linear regressions, and time series data analysis). Develops analytical solutions that improve the investment process using Python, R, and SQL. Organizes and analyzes data, using SQL and Python. Performs data analysis and research via SQL and R. Identifies data issues, performs root cause analysis, and implements resolutions to improve data quality.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Applies advanced analytics and quantitative concepts to support investment research.
  • Analyzes financial data to perform portfolio construction and alpha generation research.
  • Supports daily operations and detailed data analysis.
  • Identifies and resolves data issues, and answers helpdesk queries.
  • Works with vendors and business partners across the organization.
  • Interprets and acts on data results.
  • Brainstorms with the team on solutions to address challenges and roadblocks.
  • Processes daily operational tasks and helpdesk requests from consumers.
  • Assists in documentation and transition of new areas of work, while maintaining and updating procedural documents.
  • Proposes process enhancements.
  • Monitors the helpdesk queue and assists in logging incidents.
  • Raises issues to management as appropriate for resolution.
  • Participates in data management projects and initiatives that aim to improve data quality.
  • Assists in defining and executing test plans and supporting user acceptance testing for process enhancements.
  • Interprets results of financial analysis procedures.
  • Defines or recommends model specifications, or data collection methods.
  • Collaborates in the development or testing of new analytical software to ensure compliance with user requirements, specifications, or scope.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Manager, Data Analytics and Insights (or closely related occupation) performing managed account data operations within a financial services environment.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and one (1) year of experience as a Manager, Data Analytics and Insights (or closely related occupation) performing managed account data operations within a financial services environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") maintaining accounts and supporting financial instrument data management operations within the financial services industry, using advanced VBA, SQL, and Python; and processing tasks and exceptions through advance software to process time-sensitive workflows and resolve rule-based outlier exceptions across financial instruments -- 40 Act mutual funds, customized funds, private equity, exchange-traded funds, broader market indices, customized indices, models, composites and common stocks-- in both U.S. and international markets.
  • DE working with performance and attribution engine systems and return calculation methodologies; analyzing model and composite return data for senior management reporting; executing fund setup and integrating holdings data for 40 Act and customized funds into FactSet, Style Research, and Bloomberg; and sourcing and analyzing financial instruments returns using Morningstar and Bloomberg applications.
  • DE designing robust data analysis templates for data quality validation and conducting advanced analyses, using VBA, SQL and Python to support investments management processes; building quantitative tools to deliver actionable insights on the performance of models, composites, and managed accounts; and identifying key drivers of anomalies by generating data-driven insights using SQL and Python.
  • DE identifying anomalies in enterprise financial data, ensuring the integrity and quality required for comprehensive analysis, using advanced rule-based techniques; developing robust SQL queries to support comprehensive data analytics; and transforming and analyzing complex datasets to empower stakeholders to make informed data-driven investment decisions, using advanced VBA, SQL and Python.

Salary: $120,000.00 to $141,000.00/year.
