Youth Skills Training (YST) IT Intern Summer 2026 (Part-Time)

Position Type: Part-Time, Temporary (Summer 2026)
Hours: Approximately 30 hours total (flexible scheduling between 7:30 am - 3:30 pm)
Compensation: Stipend-based (approximately $17.50 per hour for a minimum of 30 hours)
Eligibility: Students age 16+ enrolled in Faribault Public Schools


Position Overview:

Faribault Public Schools is seeking motivated and curious student learners to participate in a paid Youth Skills Training (YST) IT Internship during Summer 2026. This paid work/learning opportunity, which is part of the Faribault YST "Tech for Tomorrow" initiative is designed to provide real-world, hands-on experience in Information Technology. Interns will work alongside the experts in IT fields and gain exposure to skills needed to pursue a career path in an IT field. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrate reliability by arriving on time and prepared
  • Show curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn
  • Ask questions and engage in hands-on learning experiences
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with your site supervisor and peers
  • Accept and apply feedback to improve performance
  • Maintain professionalism in a workplace setting (You're representing Faribault Public Schools)

Potential Activities Include: 

  • Assist with device setup, inventory, and asset management during district technology upgrades
  • Support IT staff with basic troubleshooting and help desk requests
  • Help organize and manage technology equipment and infrastructure projects
  • Assist with software setup, account access, and system updates
  • Contribute to data tracking, documentation, and organization of IT systems
  • Participate in team meetings and workplace readiness training
  • Follow all safety, data privacy, and technology use protocols

  • This is an approved Youth Skills Training worksite meeting all state requirements, including supervision and workers compensation coverage
