Job Description:

The Data Analytics Architect leads the design, integration, and governance of data systems that enable advanced analytics, operational insights, and decision support for a government UAS/C-UAS program. The role builds and maintains the data architecture required to fuse sensor feeds, intelligence sources, operational telemetry, and system performance data into secure, scalable, and mission-ready analytics environments. This position collaborates with engineers, operators, analysts, and cybersecurity teams to ensure data solutions align with mission needs, technical constraints, and security requirements.

Job Description:

Specific Responsibilities:

Data Architecture & Engineering

  • Design and maintain enterprise data architectures supporting UAS/C-UAS mission data, including sensor streams, radar feeds, RF signatures, telemetry, and intelligence datasets.
  • Develop data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and ingestion frameworks for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Architect cloud, hybrid, or on-premises data environments compliant with government security and accreditation standards.
  • Implement data models, schemas, and metadata structures optimized for analytics, machine learning, and real-time operational use.

Analytics & Decision Support

  • Enable advanced analytics capabilities, including threat detection models, pattern analysis, system performance metrics, and predictive analytics.
  • Partner with data scientists and analysts to operationalize models and integrate them into mission workflows.
  • Develop dashboards, analytic tools, and visualization frameworks that support leadership, operators, and interagency partners.
  • Ensure analytic outputs are accurate, timely, and aligned with mission priorities.

Data Governance & Security

  • Establish data governance policies, data quality standards, and lifecycle management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with classification guidelines, OPSEC, cybersecurity requirements, and cross-domain data transfer rules.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity teams to implement secure architectures, access controls, and monitoring.
  • Maintain authoritative data catalogs, lineage documentation, and audit trails.

Program Integration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with engineering, intelligence, and operational teams to understand mission needs and translate them into data requirements.
  • Support test events, demonstrations, and field operations by ensuring data capture, storage, and analysis capabilities are mission-ready.
  • Provide technical guidance to leadership on data strategy, emerging technologies, and system modernization.
  • Collaborate with interagency partners, industry vendors, and integrators to align data architectures across systems and organizations.

Education and Typical Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing data architectures in technical, defense, aerospace, or government environments.
  • Proficiency with modern data engineering tools and frameworks (e.g., SQL/NoSQL databases, data lakes, streaming platforms, cloud services).
  • Strong understanding of analytics, machine learning workflows, and operational data requirements.
  • Experience with secure system design, cybersecurity principles, and government accreditation processes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (Secret, TS/SCI, or program-specific requirement).

Specialized Knowledge/Skills Requirements

  • Experience with UAS, C-UAS, radar systems, RF analytics, or sensor fusion.
  • Familiarity with DoD or DHS data standards, tactical data links, and operational architectures.
  • Experience with real-time data processing, edge computing, or distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of geospatial data, intelligence data formats, or multi-INT fusion.
  • Background in DevSecOps, containerization, or infrastructure-as-code.

Licenses and Certifications

  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification (required)

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Full-time, 40-hour workweek with flexibility for mission requirements.
  • Travel: Candidates should be willing to travel / TDY away from their home location for up to 30% of a typical work year, potentially to international diplomatic facilities and high-threat environments. Typical deployments are expected to be 7-30 days, however candidates should be willing support deployments up to 90 days in special circumstances
  • Physical requirements can include walking, climbing, crawling through small spaces, and standing or sitting for long periods of time.
  • Must meet most stringent country medical clearance requirements. Position requires adherence to approved vaccination protocols as determined by location.
