Job description

Description

Job Title: Front-End BI Analystย

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled and adaptable Front-End BI Analyst to join our IT leadership team during an exciting period of data transformation. As a Third-Party Logistics (3PL) provider, data is the lifeblood of our operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

We are currently transitioning our primary operational and customer-facing dashboards from Power BI to Sigma Computing. In this role, you will be the driving force behind this migration, designing intuitive, high-performance dashboards while collaborating with business leaders and customers to translate complex 3PL data into actionable insights. You will work directly with data warehouses built on Snowflake and PostgreSQL, turning "silver layer" data into robust analytical datasets.

Key Responsibilities

BI Migration & Dashboard Development

  • Lead the Transition: Recreate, optimize, and enhance existing Power BI operational and customer dashboards within Sigma.
  • Front-End Design: Build intuitive, visually compelling, and high-performing dashboards in Sigma that allow both ย ย ย ย ย internal teams and external customers to self-serve.
  • Data Modeling & Analytics: Query and transform "silver layer" data into clean, curated analytical datasets optimized for front-end reporting.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Product Ownership

  • Requirements Gathering: Partner with individual managers, directors, and external customers to define custom reporting ย ย ย ย ย needs and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Metrics Standardization: Identify opportunities to standardize KPIs (e.g., on-time delivery, warehouse throughput, carrier ย ย ย ย ย performance) across different customers to reduce custom tech debt.
  • Enablement: Act as a Sigma evangelist, training internal users on how to navigate and utilize the new platform.

Data Ecosystem Collaboration

  • Multi-Source Integration: Work seamlessly across our dual data warehouse environments:
    • Snowflake: Our internal data warehouse consolidating SaaS TMS and SQL Server WMS data.
    • PostgreSQL: A partner-developed warehouse dedicated to advanced transportation and logistics modeling initiatives.
  • Data Governance: Collaborate with internal and external data engineering teams to ensure data lineage, accuracy, and ย ย ย ย ย performance tuning at the BI layer.
  • Data Reconciliation & Validation at Scale: Systematically validate large-scale "Gold" and "Platinum" layer datasets built by our external development partner within PostgreSQL.
  • Data Lineage & Gap Analysis: Utilize advanced data tracing techniques to map data from target dashboards back to the raw ย ย ย ย ย source data (SaaS TMS and SQL Server WMS).
  • Error Detection & Auditing: Design and execute validation methodologies to proactively identify aggregation errors, logical flaws, and faulty assumptions made during the data modeling process before they impact customer-facing reports.

Qualifications & Skills

Required Experience

  • Experience: 4+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or a front-end data developer role.
  • BI Tool Expertise: Proven experience building dashboards in both Power BI and Sigma Computing.ย
  • Advanced SQL: Strong ability to write complex, performant SQL queries to manipulate data from Snowflake and PostgreSQL.
  • Data Warehouse Familiarity: Experience working with modern cloud data platforms (Snowflake preferred) and relational databases (Postgres/SQL Server).
  • Data Layer Understanding: Comfort working with Medallion architecture, specifically transforming silver layer data into ย ย ย ย ย Gold/analytical presentation layers.
  • Data Auditing Techniques: Proven experience in data reconciliation, data quality assurance (DQA), or writing automated audit ย ย ย ย ย scripts to compare large datasets across disparate sources.
  • Advanced Logic Testing: Ability to dissect complex business logic (e.g., transit times, cost and revenue allocations) to find ย ย ย ย ย where discrepancies or edge cases were dropped or miscalculated in the aggregation layer.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

  • Logistics Domain Knowledge: Experience in 3PL, Supply Chain, Warehousing (WMS), or Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
  • Customer-Facing Experience: Comfort presenting data solutions directly to external clients or enterprise stakeholders.

Soft Skills

  • Analytical Consultant Mindset: Ability to nudge stakeholders toward standardized metrics rather than just being an order ย ย ย ย ย taker for custom reports.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to bridge the gap between technical data structures and business-friendly insights.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to spearhead a modern cloud-data BI migration.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge tech stacks (Snowflake, Sigma, Postgres).
  • A collaborative IT environment where your work directly impacts company growth and customer retention.
