Job description

Salary: $28-$32

Job Summary:

This position is classified as an Independent Contractor. Data Science Instructor is not an employee of the institution and will operate independently while meeting agreed-upon performance standards and educational policies aligned with PTIRU. The contractor is responsible for their own taxes, benefits, equipment, and work arrangements, and will not be entitled to employee benefits. The role collaborates closely with the Admissions and Academic teams but does not hold decision-making authority within the organization.

Position Summary

The Data Science Instructor (Independent Contractor) is responsible for designing and delivering high-quality learning experiences that support program and course objectives. The instructor will facilitate engaging, inclusive, and effective teaching and learning environments using approved curriculum resources, .


Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Learning Environment

  • Create and maintain an effective teaching-learning environment for students enrolled in the Data Science Program.
  • Develop and deliver engaging learning experiences using pre-authorized or institution-provided course materials and resources.
  • Incorporate a variety of teaching and learning methods to meet course objectives and diverse student learning styles.
  • Motivate and guide class discussions, encouraging critical thinking, debate, and constructive student feedback.

Course Design & Delivery

  • Plan and deliver lectures, presentations, demonstrations, laboratory workshops, seminars, discussion groups, case studies, and independent or group projects.
  • Develop and adapt teaching materials, including audio-visual, digital, and web-based resources, where appropriate.
  • Manage lesson planning, assignments, classroom activities, and overall course pacing to ensure alignment with learning outcomes.
  • Clearly communicate course objectives, expectations, and assessment criteria to students.

Assessment & Evaluation

  • Plan, prepare, administer, and grade assignments, quizzes, tests, exams, projects, and other assessments.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback to support learning.
  • Maintain accurate records related to student performance and course assessments, as required.

Classroom & Course Administration

  • Maintain effective control and administration of classroom facilities, equipment, materials, software, and instructional tools.
  • Ensure appropriate use of institutional learning platforms and technology relevant to the course.
  • Perform additional administrative duties related to course delivery and program requirements, as needed.


Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in Data Science or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the related field.
  • Bachelors or masters degree in marketing, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Previous teaching, training, or instructional experience in post-secondary, professional, or applied learning environments.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to engage students using diverse instructional strategies and technologies.
  • Strong experience in Data Science field- specialized programming, advanced analytics, AI and Machine learning
  • Certification or continuing studies in different tools and technologies such as programming languages, data analysis tools, Machine learning, AI etc.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL X Apache Spark , BigQuery, Cloud Computing Platforms and Machine learning frameworks.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and preferences.
