Title: Data Analytics Intern
Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Engineering Director
Location: Manitowoc, WI
Summary:
The Data Analytics Intern will support the organization by collecting, analyzing, and presenting data used to improve manufacturing and business performance. This position will work with multiple departments, including Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality, to develop reporting, identify trends, improve data accuracy, and provide meaningful insights that support business decisions.
This internship provides hands-on experience working with real-world manufacturing data and offers exposure to the financial and operational metrics used to manage a manufacturing organization.
Responsibilities:
  • Collect, organize, validate, and analyze data from manufacturing and business systems.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Use tools such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI to transform raw data into clear, actionable information.
  • Analyze manufacturing performance, including areas such as:
    • Production output and schedule attainment
    • Labor efficiency and productivity
    • Material usage and variances
    • Scrap, rework, and quality trends
    • Inventory levels and accuracy
    • Purchasing and budget adherence
    • Manufacturing costs and variances
  • Identify trends, inconsistencies, and potential opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Assist with automating recurring reports and reducing manual data entry or manipulation.
  • Support data validation and cleanup efforts to improve the accuracy and reliability of business information.
  • Work with department leaders and subject matter experts to understand business processes and reporting needs.
  • Assist in documenting reporting processes, data sources, calculations, and standard procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects involving operational or financial data.
  • Present findings and recommendations in a clear, understandable format to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Perform other analytical and project-based assignments as needed.
