Job description

Data Management Manager

The Data Management Manager is responsible for overseeing the integrity, accuracy, governance, and maintenance of all items and vendor master data across the organization. This role serves as a critical liaison between Category Management, Procurement, Sales, Inventory Control, Operations, and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure data accuracy, process compliance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and process driven, with strong project management skills and the ability to drive compliance across multiple departments.

Schedule: Hybrid schedule Monday and Friday work from home Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday work in office 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. This is a salaried position schedule may change due to business demands.

Pay: Based on experience

Responsibilities:

  • Provide analysis and business insights to support decision-making.
  • Manage all aspects of item and vendor master data maintenance and governance.
  • Act as the central communication point for data-related inquiries and issue resolution.
  • Identify, document, and implement process improvements, controls, and governance standards.
  • Lead initiatives to update and standardize existing item records to established naming conventions.
  • Maintain and update item attributes, specifications, pricing, classifications, and related master data fields.
  • Develop and implement standardized item nomenclature and item setup procedures for all future products.
  • Perform periodic audits of EDR and MAP supplier payments and ensure compliance with program agreements.
  • Oversee setup and onboarding of all new items and vendors and coordinate with Category Managers as needed.
  • Generate monthly Category Management reports including sales, margin, vendor, category, and performance metrics.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Category Management functions and provide bench strength for the team.
  • Serve as the primary Category Management liaison for Procurement, Sales, Inventory Control, and Operations.
  • Manage processes formerly handled by the Data Management Group, including discontinued item processes.
  • Partner with Procurement to ensure critical item and vendor data fields are updated accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Manage item reservation procedures and policies in partnership with Sales, Procurement, Category Management, and COS.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain, data analytics, finance, information systems, or a related field.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, PMP, or other process improvement certification preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data management, category management, procurement, supply chain, merchandising, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading cross-functional projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Previous experience in an equivalent role is preferred.
  • Previous experience with PowerBI, Tableau, or other business intelligence tools.
  • Previous experience in wholesale distribution, retail, manufacturing, or supply chain environments is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with ERP, inventory management, procurement, or master data systems.
  • Ability to have exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to influence and drive compliance without direct authority.
  • Ability to have strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to have attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to develop, improve, document, and enforce business processes.
  • Ability to comfort working with multiple stakeholders across departments.
  • Ability to have continuous improvement mindset and commitment to operational excellence.
  • Ability to have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and data analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of data governance and business process controls.
  • Working knowledge of vendor management, inventory control, procurement, and category management functions is preferred.
