Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

In this role the Business Data Analyst leverages expertise in processes, systems, and data management to support achievement of the agency's vision, mission values and business plan. Situated within the Strategy & Innovation Department, this role will develop relationships with different functional areas and understand how synergies can be created by optimizing automation, systems interfaces, and linking processes. They will ensure systems functionality is optimized to support processes and provide real time data with a high level of integrity to support decision-making. The Business Data Analyst will complete analyses of data managed across several information systems to share with decision makers. They will serve as an internal consultant in support of continuous quality improvement, overall organizational effectiveness, and transparent communication through data.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree in a technical field related to data, e.g., Computer and Information Science, Analytics, or other related field; or a combination of education and experience that is similarly equivalent.

· Three years of experience in data analysis and support.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

ANALYTICS & REPORTING

o Applying statistical and analytical techniques to examine data, identify patterns and extract meaningful insights to support data driven decision making and quality improvement.

o Work with business, evaluation, and technical teams to design, document, refresh and implement Business Intelligence (BI) with developing reports and queries.

o Develop and implement data capacity building to encourage data use and data driven decision making.

MASTER DATA MANAGEMENT

o Develop, implement, maintain and document new systems, processes, and environments as needed - including maintaining data issue logs and system change requests.

o Learn and utilize data management system(s) that ensures compliance, supports effective program oversight, and manages data as approved by governing body.

o Conduct data profiling and quality checks for key database systems.

o Research, develop, test, and implement (with end user acceptance) systems capability and solutions in line with business processes.

SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION & DATA QUALITY

o Work with business and technical teams to implement, develop and execute data clean up measures.

o Ensure adherence to data quality standards and data governance framework through audit procedures including root cause analysis for data quality errors and make recommendations for long term solutions.

o Maintain dashboard of key data quality metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPI), in collaboration with the Data Architect and Data Governance team.

o Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

· Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including PowerQuery, VBA, PowerAutomate, etc.

· Proficient in MS Power BI.

· Data profiling and data quality expertise.

· Experience with programming languages: SQL, R, or Python preferred.

· Knowledge of data modeling, querying, schema design and data integration.

· Knowledge of quantitative analysis techniques such as regression analysis, clustering, etc.

· Knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc.).

· Familiarity with data governance concepts.

· Experience with human services nonprofit systems and processes preferred.

LICENSING AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

· Valid driver’s license and / or reliable transportation.

· This is a hybrid position, requiring candidates to reside locally in Southeast Michigan.

· This position is not eligible for relocation reimbursement.
