Overview

The Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, validating, and reporting institutional data that supports academic and administrative initiatives across the Touro University System. Reporting to the Associate Director of Institutional Research, the Data Analyst develops and maintains recurring and ad hoc reports, dashboards, data visualizations, and other analytical resources while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of institutional data.Working collaboratively with members of the Office of Institutional Research & Effectiveness, the Data Analyst partners with academic and administrative departments throughout the Touro University System to deliver meaningful analytics, performance metrics, and reporting solutions that support institutional priorities. The position also supports reporting requirements related to strategic initiatives, regulatory compliance, accreditation, institutional planning, enterprise reporting, and other external reporting requirements while promoting the effective use of institutional information across the university system.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collect, validate, analyze, and report institutional data that support academic and administrative initiatives across the Touro University System.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance recurring and ad hoc reports, dashboards, data visualizations, performance metrics, and other analytical resources using tools like Tableau, SQL Server Management Studio, and Excel.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to develop reporting solutions that support institutional priorities and evidence-based planning.
  • Synthesize complex data from data sources to answer urgent leadership inquiries.
  • Support reporting requirements related to strategic initiatives, regulatory compliance, accreditation, institutional planning, enterprise reporting, and other external reporting requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into reporting specifications, dashboards, and analytical solutions.
  • Analyze institutional data to identify trends, measure institutional performance, and communicate meaningful insights.
  • Maintain the accuracy, integrity, consistency, and quality of institutional data across reporting systems.
  • Recommend improvements to reporting processes, data collection methods, reporting standards, and analytical workflows.
  • Remain current on institutional data definitions, reporting requirements, and higher education best practices.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
QualificationsEducation/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience, 1-3 years, (preferably in data analytics, computer science, information technology, or related field).
  • Experience in higher education a plus.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • SQL development with a strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices especially with large /complex datasets.
  • Experience with Tableau a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to convert user requests into technical specifications.
  • Ability to translate highly technical data findings into clear, simple language for non-technical academic stakeholders.
  • Ability to QA and troubleshoot data.
  • Ability to assess and provide recommendations for improving research processes.
  • Strong communication skills demonstrated by the ability to research, write, edit and produce documentation, training materials, and reports.
  • Work on multiple projects with the ability to prioritize deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
