The Senior Data Analyst, Risk Management and Compliance supports Risk department reporting by collecting, analyzing, and translating data into clear insights for management, General Counsel, partners, and Risk stakeholders. The role develops reports and dashboards, maintains data integrity across Risk systems, supports automation and system initiatives, and partners with Risk, IT, and consultants to improve data-driven decision-making.Job Description

In this capacity, the Senior Data Analyst, Risk Management and Compliance will:

Data Collection and Management

  • Gather, clean, validate, and consolidate data from Risk systems, databases, spreadsheets, APIs, and external sources;

  • Partner with data owners to define reporting needs, ensure data quality, and resolve inconsistencies; and

  • Develop data models and governance practices that support Risk reporting, compliance, information governance, and operational metrics.

Data Analysis
  • Analyze complex quantitative and qualitative datasets to identify trends, risk indicators, root causes, and business insights;

  • Use SQL, stored procedures, Excel, and other tools to perform standard and ad-hoc reporting and analysis; and

  • Lead special projects that advance Risk department data maturity and reporting capabilities.

Reporting, Visualization, and Systems
  • Design and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Excel, Power BI, SSAS, SQL, VBA, or similar tools;

  • Create standardized and ad-hoc reports for leadership, General Counsel, partners, and Risk stakeholders;

  • Translate complex data into clear narratives and visuals for technical and non-technical audiences; and

  • Establish reporting templates, standards, and automation to improve consistency and efficiency.

Systems, Testing, and Project Support
  • Work with IT and consultants to define data requirements, support integrations, and test report automation or system enhancements;

  • Prepare specifications, mock-ups, documentation, and UAT support for reporting and system initiatives; and

  • Track data requests, enhancements, customizations, and service requests through completion.

Data Interpretation and Communication
  • Present findings through written reports, executive presentations, and visual storytelling;

  • Recommend data-informed actions to reduce risk exposure and improve business outcomes; and

  • Stay current on Risk Management, Firm, and Big Law reporting practices and metrics.

Collaboration and Leadership
  • Serve as a liaison among Risk, IT, Compliance, practice groups, and outside consultants on data and reporting needs;

  • Mentor junior analysts and review work for accuracy, quality, and consistency; and

  • Contribute actionable insights across Business Intake, Information Governance, Compliance, and other Risk functions.

Attention to Detail & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure accurate, high-quality analysis and reporting across deliverables;

  • Monitor data trends to identify anomalies or shifts in risk metrics; and

  • Handle confidential firm and client information with integrity, discretion, and sound judgment.

Continuous Improvement
  • Stay current on data analysis, visualization, automation, and risk-reporting tools and techniques;

  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, efficiency, and data quality; and

  • Handle additional tasks and projects as assigned.

Proficiencies:

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain data concepts to technical and business audiences;

  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills;

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently, use sound judgment, and meet deadlines; and

  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Management, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience preferred;

  • 5-7 years of data analysis experience, including senior or lead analyst responsibilities;

  • Law Firm or professional services experience strongly preferred;

  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, SQL, SSAS, VBA, and Microsoft Excel; Access and PowerPoint experience a plus;

  • Experience with systems like Intapp Open, Intapp Walls, iManage, 3E, SQL/MySQL/PL-SQL/T-SQL, and ETL or programming frameworks preferred; and

  • Experience developing data standards, reporting metrics, and mentoring or training analysts preferred.

The salary wage range for New York that we expect to pay for this position is a minimum of $101,500 and a maximum of $132,000 annually. The actual pay wage may vary based on experience or other relevant factors.

The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
