ANEW is a nonprofit organization with a mission of building people, building communities. Founded in 1980, ANEW has a unique and successful reputation for assisting underserved populations into apprenticeship and family wage careers. ANEW is focused on changing the culture and demographics of industries that have historically not been diverse or inclusive.
POSITION TITLE: Program Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Program Manager, this position's primary responsibility is instructing adult Pre-Apprenticeship students job readiness skills with the purpose of aiding them in meeting apprenticeship entry requirements. This position is responsible for assisting with the logistics of multiple training cohorts, the ANEW screening and enrollment process, as well as the instruction and delivery of course content, with a focus on basic construction trades math. This position will be traveling to satellite locations throughout western Washington instructing adult learners on the concepts of construction-trades level mathematics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide instruction in apprenticeship trades courses in classroom, remote, or online delivery mode using established course outcomes. This includes lecturing and guiding in-class math & professional development activities, providing individual conference time to guide and evaluate student progress
  • Grade assignments, conduct student assessments & testing, and offer tutoring
  • Track and input student grades, progress and goal completion. Counsel students regarding skills progression
  • Create syllabi and facilitate daily courses. Deliver instructional lesson plans that reflect learning outcomes .
  • Assist with the intake of prospective students
  • Have knowledge and experience using a variety of assessment tools and analyzing student data
  • Conduct student intake interviews, and assist with the screening/enrollment of students
  • Effectively instruct all content using interactive, hands-on teaching
  • Coach students in mathematics, helping them with homework, building skills,
  • Ability to teach students who encompass a range of academic abilities and help students build self-confidence through successful exploration and discovery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM / REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
4+ Years of experience working in education, support service, or similar role is required.
• 2+ Years of experience teaching mathematics at a high-school or higher grade level, experience with adult learners is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field is required.
• A Washington state teaching credential is highly desirable.
• Experience working with diverse populations, and/or adult learners from high barriers
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, and ability to work with a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to be organized and detail oriented.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to work flexible schedule to include evening and or weekend
• Overnight travel is expected
• Ability to get to multiple work locations on a routine basis
• Must provide documents that verify identity and employment authorization within 3 business days of employment
• Valid U.S. Driver's license - some driving will be required for event work

WORK LOCATION: ANEW Training (Tukwila) and Satellite locations as assigned
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed, travel is expected and required, including overnight travel
REPORTS TO: Program Manager
Compensation:
This position is a non-exempt position with a starting salary rate of $33.17-$35.21 Per Hour.
BENEFITS:
The person in this position is expected to serve a 90-day probation period. Benefits will not be included until and unless the position is made permanent, which is contingent upon performance evaluation, funding, board direction, and potential re-development of the organization and its training/service delivery models. If the position is more than 30/hours per week, employer paid medical benefits will include medical, dental, and vision benefits.
A portion of the medical premium is made by the employee through a pre-tax contribution at time of payroll posting. Employees at 30/hours a week or greater qualify for full benefits and pay a pre-tax contribution of $80 per month. Additional employer paid benefits include basic life insurance, vacation, sick leave, holiday pay. ANEW also contributes a 4% match to a 401k after one year of employment. ANEW Employees will not be permitted to use paid vacation or sick leave until successful completion of their 90-day probationary period.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Prolonged periods standing in front of a classroom instructing.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry items up to 15 pounds (e.g., office supplies, small packages).
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computers, printers, telephones).
• Visual acuity to read printed and digital documents for extended periods.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Work Environment:
• Typical office environment with moderate noise levels and controlled indoor temperatures.
• Standard business hours apply; occasional extended hours may be required based on workload or deadlines.
• Position may involve occasional meetings or collaboration in conference rooms or virtual settings.
