Position Summary

The Commercial Operations Data Analyst supports Kantoโ€™s Commercial organization by transforming sales, customer, forecast, and operational data into actionable insights that improve account planning, demand forecasting, customer performance, and commercial decision-making.

Working closely with the Commercial Team, Customer Service, Operations, Finance, and Kanto leadership, this position develops and maintains accurate reporting, analytical models, forecasts, and business intelligence tools that improve visibility into business performance, customer demand, risks, and growth opportunities.

The position also develops working knowledge of Kantoโ€™s Customer Service processes and assigned accounts through cross-training. This provides backup coverage and continuity for critical customer-facing activities during absences, periods of high demand, or other business needs while strengthening the Analystโ€™s understanding of the complete customer order-to-delivery cycle.

General Duties & Responsibilities (*Essential Functions) Commercial Analytics & Business Intelligence
  • Analyze sales trends, customer demand, account performance, product mix, pricing, volume, and customer profitability to support Account Management and Commercial decision-making.*
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, scorecards, and KPIs for the Commercial Team and Executive Leadership. *
  • Identify trends, risks, forecast variances, customer opportunities, and emerging business issues through data analysis. *
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for business leaders. *
  • Compile and analyze data supporting customer business reviews, account planning, and commercial strategy. *
  • Create professional executive-level presentations and data visualizations using Excel, PowerPoint, and other reporting tools. *
Forecasting & Commercial Planning
  • Develop and maintain monthly, annual, and five-year product and customer sales forecasts. *
  • Analyze historical demand, customer projections, account activity, and other business indicators to improve forecast accuracy. *
  • Monitor forecast-to-actual performance and identify significant variances, trends, and potential business impacts. *
  • Partner with Commercial and Operations teams to align customer demand forecasts with production capacity, inventory, and operational planning. *
  • Support annual budgeting, long-range planning, and other strategic planning activities. *
  • Maintain forecasting assumptions, methodologies, and supporting documentation to promote consistency and data integrity. *
Customer Service Cross-Training & Backup Coverage
  • Cross-train on key Customer Service responsibilities, systems, processes, and assigned customer accounts to provide effective backup coverage when needed. *
  • Develop working knowledge of Kantoโ€™s customer order lifecycle, including order entry, delivery coordination, invoicing, customer communications, and accounts receivable support. *
  • Provide backup support for assigned accounts during employee absences, workload surges, vacations, or other business needs.
  • Respond professionally and promptly to customer inquiries regarding orders, delivery status, documentation, invoices, and other routine account needs when providing coverage.
  • Process sales orders, invoices, delivery confirmations, and related transactions when serving in a backup capacity. *
  • Partner with Customer Service to identify recurring customer issues or process trends that may benefit from improved reporting, analysis, or automation.
Project Coordination
  • Coordinate Commercial projects and initiatives involving multiple internal departments. *
  • Track project milestones, deliverables, responsibilities, and action items using Microsoft Planner or other project management tools. *
  • Support implementation of Commercial strategic initiatives and process improvements. *
  • Coordinate information and follow-up across Commercial, Customer Service, Operations, Finance, and other business functions. *
Reporting & Executive Support
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports for Commercial and Executive Leadership.
  • Build, maintain, and improve Excel-based analytical models supporting business decisions. *
  • Compile and validat e information used in customer reviews, strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and leadership meetings. *
  • Ensure reports and presentations communicate information clearly, accurately, and at the appropriate level for the intended audience. *
  • Respond to leadership requests for data analysis and provide appropriate context and interpretation rather than data alone. *
Data Integrity & Continuous Improvement
  • Standardize forecasting models, reporting templates, dashboards, and analytical tools. *
  • Identify and correct data inconsistencies and improve processes that affect reporting accuracy. *
  • Support CRM and ERP data quality and Commercial reporting effectiveness. *
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive reporting, data preparation, and analytical processes. *
  • Recommend improvements that provide better visibility into customer, sales, forecast, and commercial performance. *
  • Establish repeatable processes and documentation that improve reporting consistency and business continuity. *
Qualifications Required Education & Experience
  • 5+ yearsโ€™ experience in a data analyst role in business, finance, or sales/commercial operations.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, commercial analytics, sales operations, demand planning, forecasting, business intelligence, or a related function.
  • Strong understanding of order management processes and general knowledge of manufacturing, production, inventory, and supply chain activities.
  • Experience working with ERP sales/order management modules such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, or a comparable system.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, advanced formulas, lookup functions, charts, data validation, data modeling, and Power Query or similar data-cleaning and transformation tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex information, identify meaningful trends, and translate findings into actionable business insights.
  • Experience preparing reports, presentations, and analytical materials for management or executive leadership.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across functional areas.
  • High attention to detail and demonstrated commitment to data integrity and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Ability and willingness to cross-train in Customer Service processes and provide backup account coverage as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Account Management, Sales Operations, Sales Support, Customer Service, or Commercial Operations.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, chemical, semiconductor, high-purity materials, or industrial business environment.
  • Experience creating dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools.

Environment & Working Conditions

While performing the duties of the position, the employee regularly works handling moving mechanical parts and toxic, flammable, and corrosive liquid and fuming chemicals.

Work is regularly performed in an industrial production environment requiring the use of full body clean room attire, including head and face coverings, and full body PPE, including a hood style respirator.

The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places, accessed by ladders, scaffolding, and powered lift trucks.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, except for certain areas where noise may be occasionally moderate or loud for sustained periods of time

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is consistently required to walk or stand for long periods of time, with brief periods of sitting.
