Job description

Montage Marketing Group is seeking a Data Analyst to support client-facing projects in a growing marketing and communications environment. This role serves commercial, nonprofit, and public sector clients, including federal, state, and local government organizations in the delivery of data-informed marketing and communications strategies. This role combines data analysis, reporting, performance measurement, and strategic insights to help clients make informed decisions and optimize marketing, outreach, communications, and engagement initiatives.

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and innately curious, with the ability to transform complex data into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.

This is a full-time, exempt position working a hybrid schedule at Montage's Rockville, MD office and the employees home office. The anticipated annual salary for this position is $70,000 - $80,000.

Position Overview

Data Analysis & Insights

  • Analyze large and diverse datasets to identify trends, patterns, opportunities, and risks.
  • Develop performance metrics, KPIs, dashboards, and scorecards to measure marketing and communications effectiveness.
  • Conduct audience, customer, stakeholder, and campaign analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses and research to answer client and internal business questions.
  • Translate analytical findings into clear recommendations that improve outcomes and overall organization performance.
  • Apply data analytics methodologies, including predictive modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques, to inform client program strategy and approach.

Reporting & Visualization

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and automated reports using a variety of platforms.
  • Create compelling data visualizations that communicate insights to executive, client, and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor campaign, website, social media, digital advertising, public engagement, and program performance metrics.
  • Ensure reporting accuracy, consistency, and alignment with client objectives and contractual requirements.
  • Translate and present findings through compelling written reports, presentations, and stakeholder briefings.

Data Management and Technical Execution

  • Collect, clean, validate, and integrate data from multiple sources and platforms.
  • Work with databases, spreadsheets, CRM systems, marketing platforms, and analytics tools to support reporting needs.
  • Develop and maintain queries, data models, and workflows that improve data quality and accessibility.
  • Support data governance, documentation, and quality assurance processes.
  • Identify opportunities to automate reoccurring reporting and analytical processes.

Client and Program Support

  • Support stakeholder analysis, audience segmentation, and evaluation of marketing or outreach program effectiveness.
  • Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for targeted engagement or program outcome enhancements.
  • Coordinate with client and agency stakeholders to ensure effective updating and maintenance of databases for accurate data analysis and reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal project management and external client stakeholders to define analytical requirements.
  • Support the development of new business proposals, client presentations, and strategic client recommendations reinforced by data-driven insights.
  • Assist government and commercial clients in measuring program effectiveness and return on investment.
  • Communicate technical findings in a manner that is understandable to non-technical audiences.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and evidence-based decision-making.

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in data analysis, program evaluation, market research or similar field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Professional background in a client-facing, professional services environment.
  • Experience in programming languages for data analysis (Python, R, etc.) and developing data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
  • Deep understanding of database management systems, querying and analyzing data using SQL.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, Fivetran, Airtable, Snowflake, Google Analytics, GitHub or similar.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis techniques.
  • Applied expertise in the use of artificial intelligence (AI), data visualization, and reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proven success in managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced client services environment.
  • Ability to obtain public trust suitability with the federal government.
  • Located within a commutable distance to offices in Rockville, MD.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience within project management, event coordination, marketing/advertising/PR, consulting, or government contracting environments.
