About FW Trucking:

  • FW Trucking is a reputable transportation company originating in 1949 that specializes in the safe and efficient movement of goods across the United States. With a commitment to reliability and excellence, we are seeking a Trucking Fleet Manager to join our team at our Centreville, IL, location.

Position Overview:

  • As the Trucking Fleet Manager at FW Trucking, you will play a pivotal role in the success of our operations. You will be responsible for overseeing the OTR Trucking Division, which consists of 53' dry van & reefer units. Your primary objective will be to ensure the profitability of the Trucking Division while maintaining the highest level of safety and compliance


  • At FW we have a mix of customer freight and spot market freight. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for using these two methods to keep their drivers moving while ensuring their overall Rate per Mile profitability. To do this, you'll need to utilize spot boards such as DAT, Truckstop.com, etc., negotiate with brokers, etc. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Trucking Operations and ensure the profitability of the OTR Trucking Division, routes, etc.
  • Oversee & manage the drivers of the OTR Fleet (10-15 drivers)
  • Utilize spot boards such as DAT, Truckstop.com, etc., negotiate with brokers
  • Have one on one conversations with drivers concerning positive and negative performance/safety issues.
  • Dispatch and coordinate daily routes for a fleet of 10-15 Class A semi-truck drivers.
  • Ensure all drivers comply with federal and state regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
  • Monitor driver performance, including on-time deliveries and vehicle maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Manager to schedule and prioritize repairs and routine maintenance for fleet vehicles.
  • Track and manage driver hours to ensure compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
  • Resolve operational issues, including route changes, delays, and customer requests.
  • Maintain accurate records of driver activities, including electronic logs and paperwork.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment among the driver team.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to address any concerns or issues related to deliveries.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience in fleet management, logistics, or a related industry.
  • Knowledge of the Spot Market. DAT, Truckstop.com, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and HOS rules.
  • Knowledge of Samsara ELD software is a plus
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including transportation management software
  • Knowledge of Profit Tools TMS software is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and make critical decisions.
