Job description

Department
The Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography (MANCC)
Responsibilities
Residency Administration & Artist Support
  • Logistics & Hospitality: Book artist lodging and transportation; greet artists upon arrival (including airport pick-ups) and provide campus/facility/MANCC orientations.
  • On-Site Support: Serve as a responsive point of contact for artists during their residencies.
  • Event Planning: Plan, staff, and coordinate Entrypoint events and residency activities.
  • Contracts & Documentation: Shepherd contracts through the signature process; track all residency-associated documents and maintain accurate records.
  • Meetings & Evaluation: Schedule and document planning meetings, residency orientation and wrap-up meetings, and distribute/track post-residency evaluations.
Office Management & Fiscal Administration
  • Financial Tracking: Work closely with University Business Administration staff to process, track, and record fiscal expenditures.
  • Administrative Support: Take comprehensive notes for external meetings with artists; coordinate travel arrangements for MANCC staff.
  • Operations: Order equipment and supplies.
Communications & Production Support
  • Promotional Materials: Coordinate the production and printing of promotional materials, including artist fact sheets, posters, and building signage.
  • Technical Liaison: Coordinate basic production and technical support through the FSU School of Dance as needed.
  • Production Support. Provide light production support as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and experience equal to four years. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week (typically Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM) with flexibility for occasional evening and weekend hours based on residency needs.
  • Shares a genuine desire to support a range of contemporary artists and their creative processes.
  • A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver's License or the ability to obtain prior to hire and access to a reliable personal vehicle for local errands and airport runs (mileage will be reimbursed).
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills; ability to interface professionally with MANCC staff, faculty, students, School of Dance administration, community members, and visiting artists.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with experience managing schedules, setting meetings, and taking detailed meeting minutes.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills (email, word processing, calendar software) and data entry, with the ability and willingness to learn new platforms.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating travel arrangements and tracking expenses.
  • Familiarity with the Mac platform and software such as Microsoft Office (including Calendar and SharePoint), Adobe Creative Suite, iContact, and SmugMug.
  • Basic experience with Adobe InDesign.
  • A basic background in technical production and a general understanding of audio, video, and computer-related hardware/software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: mature, responsible, collaborative, possesses a sense of humor.

The Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography (MANCC) is one of only two national residency centers for choreography in the United States located within a major research institution. Embedded within Florida State University's School of Dance, MANCC operates from one of the country's premier dance facilities. We offer unparalleled opportunities for contemporary choreographers and their collaborators to research, develop, and write about new work within a supportive creative community.
The Residency Coordinator works collaboratively with the MANCC staff-including the Director, Assistant Director, and Media Specialist-to support choreographic residencies and provide basic administrative support. This role is responsible for the seamless administration of artist residencies, day-to-day office management, and light production support.
