Emergency Medicine Physician 

Saint Francis Healthcare System | Cape Girardeau, Missouri 

Saint Francis Healthcare System is seeking a Board‑Eligible or Board‑Certified Emergency Medicine physician to join our respected Emergency Department and Southeast Missouri’s only Level III Trauma Center. This is an outstanding opportunity to practice high-quality emergency medicine in a collegial, physician-led environment with strong institutional support. 

About the Emergency & Trauma Center 

Our state-of-the-art Emergency and Trauma Center features 32 patient rooms and cares for over 42,000 patients annually. Designed with both patients and providers in mind, the facility includes: 

  • 26 private treatment rooms, each with direct bathroom access 
  • 3 trauma rooms 
  • 2 triage rooms 
  • 1 special procedures room 
  • Dedicated pediatric exam areas with child‑specific equipment 
  • Senior‑friendly design elements including thicker mattresses, higher chairs, large‑print forms, non‑skid flooring, and guardrails to promote comfort, safety, and faster recovery

Compensation & Benefits 

  • $2,512 per 10‑hour shift, plus performance incentives 
  • Excess shift pay and night shift differential 
  • Student loan repayment available 
  • Signing bonus or monthly stipend option for residents

  • Paid malpractice insurance with tail coverage 

Position Highlights & Schedule 

  • Join 15 hospital‑employed Emergency Medicine physicians and 7 Emergency Medicine APPs 
  • Typical daily coverage includes 6 physicians and 2–3 APPs 
  • Fully staffed, experienced nursing team with low turnover 
  • Hospital‑employed hospitalist team manages admission orders 
  • 14 ten‑hour shifts per month 
  • Hospital‑employed model provides stability and work-life balance 

Requirements 

  • BE/BC in Emergency Medicine 
  • Missouri medical license (or ability to obtain upon credentialing) 
  • Active Missouri DEA license (or ability to obtain upon credentialing)
