Job Summary
The Dairy Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Dairy Department, ensuring product availability, freshness, merchandising excellence, and exceptional customer service. This role is responsible for supervising department associates, maintaining inventory and quality standards, supporting sales and profitability goals, and ensuring compliance with company policies and food safety requirements. The Dairy Supervisor leads daily department execution and supports store initiatives to deliver an outstanding shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities Department Operations
- Oversee daily Dairy Department operations to ensure shelves, coolers, and displays remain fully stocked and properly merchandised.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering, receiving, stocking, and product replenishment activities.
- Ensure proper product rotation utilizing first-in, first-out (FIFO) procedures.
- Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards.
- Monitor out-of-stock conditions and take corrective action to maximize product availability.
- Ensure promotional and seasonal merchandising programs are executed according to company standards.
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service and create a positive shopping experience.
- Assist customers with product selection and respond to inquiries in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and effectively.
- Promote department sales through product knowledge and customer engagement.
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise, train, coach, and develop Dairy associates.
- Assign and monitor daily work activities to ensure operational goals are achieved.
- Foster a positive, productive, and customer-focused work environment.
- Support associate development and performance management initiatives.
- Communicate department priorities, expectations, and company programs effectively.
Inventory Management & Product Quality
- Ensure all dairy products meet company freshness, quality, and presentation standards.
- Monitor product dates and remove unsellable merchandise promptly.
- Assist with inventory control procedures and shrink reduction efforts.
- Maintain accurate inventory and receiving practices.
- Support department initiatives that improve product availability and operational efficiency.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, health, and workplace safety regulations.
- Maintain proper temperature controls and storage procedures for all dairy products.
- Ensure associates adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Complete required operational and food safety documentation accurately.
Financial Performance
- Support achievement of department sales, labor, shrink, and profitability goals.
- Monitor department performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Assist with managing inventory levels and controlling expenses.
- Support merchandising initiatives designed to increase sales and customer satisfaction.
