Job Summary

Daily Substitutes play a key role in District 69 by ensuring the continuity of educational programs and maintaining a safe, productive learning environment for students in the absence of regular staff.ย 

Qualifications

  • ISBE Substitute Teacher or Teacher License
    • To obtain ISBE Substitute Teacher Licenseย CLICK HERE
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making decisions regarding the safety and welfare of students
  • Successful instructional or organized recreational experience with children, preferred

Work Day

Daily substitute teachers are employed for the school day and are required to remain on school grounds until the end of their scheduled day. Based on the needs of the building, the daily substitute may be assigned to assist on playgrounds, in cafeterias, libraries, or other classrooms if they have unassigned time during their scheduled day.

Full Day Assignment Hours

Madison

  • 7:30 a.m. - 2:55 p.m.

Edison

  • 7:55 a.m. - 3:20 p.m.

Lincoln

  • 8:30 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.

PreK

  • 8:00 a.m - 3:25 p.m.ย 

Half Day Assignment Hours

Note:ย When accepting a half day assignment, please plan on an assignment of approximately 4 hours. Actual time may be adjusted based on the needs of the building.

Madisonย 

  • Half Day AM: 7:30 a.m. - 11:20 a.m.
  • Half Day PM: 11:05 a.m. - 2:55 p.m.

Edisonย 

  • Half Day AM: 7:55 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.
  • Half Day PM: 11:30 a.m. - 3:20 p.m.

Lincoln

  • Half Day AM: 8:30 a.m. - 12:20 p.m.
  • Half Day PM: 12:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.

PreKย 

  • Half Day AM: 8:00a.m. -11:25 a.m
  • Half Day PM: 12:00 p.m -3:25 p.m.ย 

Rate of Pay

Daily Substitutes who work on a day-to-day basis (as needed) for a teaching or paraprofessional position will be compensated based on the following:

  • Full Day Substitute: $150.00
  • Full Day Rate After Working 50+ assignments in the prior year in District 69: $175.00
  • Half Day Substitute (4 hours or less): $75.00 per day - Two 1/2 days count as a full day
  • Half Day Rate after working 50+ days: $85.00 per day

Work Year

Daily substitutes do not have a contract of employment for any guaranteed period of time. Daily substitutes are considered "at will" employees and are not eligible to receive benefits.
