Job description

Summary:


The Daily Herald Media Group is looking for an Account Executive to develop new revenue for company through advertising sales in our print, digital and niche products. This person will also be responsible for troubleshooting issues for all active accounts as well as nurturing that business.

Note, this requires field work for 50% of the time

What you will do:

  • Sell new and existing accounts in assigned territory

  • Heavy emphasis on seeking and closing new business, cold calling and contract development

  • Adopt and implement new selling strategies developed by the company. Focus, particularly, on digital ads

  • Work with team's account manager to strategize upsells for current clientele

  • Market new advertising products or services initiated by the company

  • Run with any new leads provided by the account manager or through other sources

  • Use consultative selling model to discover client needs and use innovative techniques to create new products or services to meet those needs

  • Utilize sales tracking systems and enter ad data in a timely manner

  • Monitor competition regularly

  • Service and up-sell existing accounts into various products

  • Negotiate annual spending agreements

  • Attend sales meetings and represent the company at outside functions such as chamber or association events and required in-office staff meetings a few times each month


What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent sales experience required

  • Experience working in multi-media sales, including print and digital, is strongly preferred

  • Must have proven success in cold calling, like seeking out new business and strategically working with a client to maximize their business

  • Intermediate level Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills preferred with basic Excel experience a plus

  • Strong comfort level in learning sales software such as Ad Point

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to use available marketing tools to develop solid sales presentations

  • Comfortable with in-person or video presentations with our digital manager

  • Good organizational skills

  • Ready and able to work collaboratively with account manager, sales coordinator, and ad operations team in order to best grow and manage the business

Benefits and Compensation:

The salary range is $40,000 - $45,000 + mileage reimbursement and commission (OTE $90,000). Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
