Position Overview


Grace and Glory Hospice is seeking an experienced, hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead and manage all HR functions for our growing healthcare organization. This role is critical in supporting our clinical and administrative teams by handling employee relations, ensuring compliance, and fostering a positive and professional workplace culture.

This is an on-site, employee-facing role. The HR Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for all employee-related matters and will work directly with staff to address concerns, resolve conflicts, and support leadership in managing performance. Eventually this role may include payroll data entry and billing support.


Key Responsibilities


Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for all employees
  • Handle employee complaints, concerns, and workplace issues directly
  • Conduct investigations and provide recommendations for resolution
  • Lead and document disciplinary actions, including write-ups and terminations
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with California labor laws and healthcare regulations
  • Maintain and update HR policies, employee handbook, and procedures
  • Oversee proper documentation of employee files, performance issues, and corrective actions
  • Partner with leadership to reduce legal and compliance risks

Performance Management

  • Support managers with performance coaching and employee development
  • Create and manage Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs)
  • Guide leadership through employee discipline and termination processes

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Oversee recruitment efforts, including job postings, screening, and interviewing
  • Manage onboarding and orientation for new hires
  • Ensure all required documentation and training are completed

Culture & Staff Support

  • Build strong relationships with clinical and administrative staff
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment
  • Be visible and accessible to employees on a daily basis

HR Operations

  • Manage HR systems, records, and reporting
  • Coordinate with payroll and benefits providers (PEO)
  • Support leadership with HR strategy and organizational planning

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in healthcare or hospice
  • Strong knowledge of California employment laws
  • Proven experience handling employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolution
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
