JOB IDENTIFICATION
Job Title: D62 & D207 Building Supervisor
Grade: V
FLSA: Non -Exempt, Hours not to exceed 950/year
Department: Recreation
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Athletics Supervisor
Supervises: Volunteer coaches & Participants
BASIC FUNCTION
The D62 & D207 Building Supervisor, under the direction of the Athletics Supervisor, is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and supervision of Des Plaines Park District programs held at District 62 schools and Maine West High School during assigned work hours. This position provides facility access for participants, coaches, and parents/guardians, monitors program and restroom areas, ensures patrons remain in designated spaces, serves as the primary on-site contact with school district staff, and helps maintain a safe and positive environment throughout program operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  1. Supervise and monitor D62 and D207 facilities during assigned shifts to ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for coaches, participants, parents, and guardians.
  1. Maintain a thorough understanding of the facility layout, including program areas, entrances, exits, and access points.
  1. Complete and submit all required daily and nightly facility inspection checklists.
  1. Monitor the cleanliness of facility spaces, including the gymnasium, restrooms, band room, gymnastics gym, pool area, and building exterior, and address or report concerns as needed.
  1. Respond appropriately to emergencies by administering First Aid and/or CPR when necessary, completing required documentation, and assisting with emergency procedures, including evacuations and severe weather response.
  1. Remain informed of all programs and activities scheduled during each shift and assist with facility setup and teardown as needed.
  1. Conduct routine walkthroughs of the facility throughout each shift to inspect program areas, restrooms, and common spaces for safety, security, and cleanliness.
  1. Address and document inappropriate use of the facility or equipment and communicate incidents to the appropriate supervisor.
  1. Secure the facility at the conclusion of each shift by ensuring doors are fully closed, building systems are functioning properly, and all closing procedures are completed.
  1. Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, operational issues, and unusual incidents to the appropriate supervisor in a timely manner.

OTHER DUTIES
  1. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual and Crisis Manual.
  1. Assist program instructors, facility users, with any needs.
  1. Additional duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Education or equivalent (GED)
Experience: Must be 18 yrs or older.
Certifications: CPR and First Aid Certified within 3 months, Classes available through Park District upon hire
