Job description

Be the Guide Students Remember.

For students living on Center, you'll be a steady, everyday presence โ€” the person who helps them navigate group living, build positive relationships, and stay focused on their goals. As a Residential Advisor, you'll provide the guidance, structure, and role modeling that turn a dormitory into a supportive community where students feel safe and thrive.

This is a role for someone with heart and patience: a natural mentor who leads by example, meets students where they are, and takes real pride in helping young adults grow into their best selves.

Why Join Us? Make a Real Impact!

Job Corps is a transformative program that provides education, vocational training, and career readiness to young adults. In this role, you'll be on the front line of student life โ€” shaping daily behavior, modeling positive leadership, and creating the kind of safe, encouraging living environment where achievement becomes possible.

What You'll Do

Guide & Mentor Students

Provide guidance that helps students build a positive attitude and proper behavior in dormitory living and accomplish their goals. Deliver guidance, counseling, group sessions, and independent living skills; determine, recommend, and arrange student visits to counselors; and assist in unit activities, including unit government.

Ensure a Safe, Structured Environment

Patrol and monitor dormitories and the Center as required, ensuring the safety and proper behavior of students and resolving potential or occurring problems. Direct students and assist in the cleanup and maintenance of the dormitory, and recommend or requisition supplies to meet dorm living and student safety needs.

Maintain Records & Reporting

Prepare the daily operations report, pass list, and other administrative correspondence relating to students. Maintain dormitory and individual student files โ€” ensuring they're complete, updated, and fully documented โ€” and enter student case notes in the Center information system.

Model Standards & Support Success

Participate in the career development services system by ensuring a safe living environment and modeling positive peer leadership. Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions. Provide positive, quality customer service to students, staff, and other Center customers, and support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy, along with other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of one (1) year of Job Corps or related program experience
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds, or to assess a load and request assistance as needed
  • Willingness to work overtime when directed, with regular and predictable attendance

Ready to Make a Difference?

If you're ready to guide, mentor, and support students in their day-to-day lives โ€” and help build a safe, positive place to live and grow โ€” we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and become part of a mission that matters.

Physical Requirements

This role involves sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to lift 40 pounds, or to assess a lift load and ask for necessary assistance.

Several of the benefits below are fully sponsored by Adams and Associates, while others include company contributions to help offset costs. Details regarding coverage and contribution amounts will be provided during onboarding.
