Embark on a Journey of Impactful Adventure

Cycle Instructor - Instruct group exercise classes according to the guidelines set forth by the YMCA of the USA and the Director of Group Exercise.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct group exercise classes and provide assistance in a safe, enthusiastic, thorough, courteous and professional manner. 
  • Be a positive YMCA role model with an enthusiastic attitude 
  • All scheduled classes will be held, and sub coverage secured 
  • Classes will start and end on time 
  • Greet participants and learn their names 
  • Take class attendance
  • Familiarize yourself with our Upace Group Ex technology which includes but is not limited to sub tracking system, class contact feature, class cancellation
  • Check and respond in a timely fashion to your YMCA email
  • Identify your participants’ limitations and adapt your classes and/or provide modifications accordingly 
  • Properly and safely utilize all equipment associated with your class
  • Promote a healthy lifestyle
  • Attend advanced training workshops that are offered throughout the year by the YMCA of Greater Brandywine (or another co-op member YMCA)
  • Participate in special events and open houses throughout the year
  • Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

What You'll Need

  • Must be 18 years or older 
  • Availability morning and weekend hours.
  • At least 1 year of participation in group exercise class(es) required 
  • Possess and maintains at least one current Group Exercise certificate of completion or specialty certificate from a reputable organization for each specialized group modality
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
