Eli's Counter People are the representative of the restaurant to guests and their main point of interaction in the food ordering process. Counter people are responsible for guiding guests through the food menu and experience. Eli's counter people are expected to give service that is knowledgeable, approachable, efficient, energetic, and thoughtful while upholding company standards and values in a busy, fast paced environment.


Essential Functions

  • Oversee and guide guest's complete food ordering experience
  • Provide knowledgeable, approachable, efficient, energetic, and thoughtful service at all times
  • Full knowledge of food menu items including the major components of a dish; this may include ingredients and their source, simple descriptions of unfamiliar ingredients, preparation, and/or execution of correct food and beverage service
  • Properly notify the kitchen and management of any guest allergies
  • Thoroughly explain to guests the food service style of the restaurant and its workings while effectively communicating to the guest what they can expect when their meal is ready
  • Adhere to all company service standards and protocols
  • Confident and correct use of POS system for order entry and payment processing
  • Ensure food arrives to guests quickly and correctly; and confirming guest satisfaction
  • Answering phones and responding to questions in all aspects concerning the store
  • Keeping track of orders placed online
  • Maintain a sanitary environment for incoming and outgoing guests
  • Label and package to go items pertaining to pre-order takeout
  • Ensure guests are charged correctly and receive proof of payment in a timely manner
  • Communicate respectfully with chefs (and kitchen team) as necessary
  • Support team members in the completion of their duties to ensure satisfaction of all guests before, during, and after service
  • Engage management for any guest issue or complaint
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of service tools and service areas
  • Stocking and preparing service related items
  • Adhere to grooming and dress code standards


Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year counter experience in a high volume environment
  • Strong food knowledge and a passion for the service industry
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and a collaborative attitude
  • Must possess exceptional work ethic, strong attention to detail, strong multi-tasking & organizational skills, and a collaborative attitude
  • Receptive to constructive criticism and performance feedback
  • Ability to demonstrate quick thinking and adaptability in a constantly changing environment
  • Beer and wine knowledge preferred


Physical Demands

The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing, for 4 to 8 hours, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours.
