Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise technology and security environment serving K-12 organizations across Kentucky.
This position will work closely with technical teams, customers, vendors, and technology partners to maintain and troubleshoot critical cybersecurity and infrastructure services. The role will have a strong focus on firewall administration, Active Directory, VPN, DNS, Microsoft 365 security, and enterprise security operations.
The Cybersecurity Engineer will also contribute to security initiatives, vulnerability management, incident response, and Tier 3 technical support within a large, highly visible environment supporting hundreds of thousands of users.
Occasional work outside standard business hours may be required to support critical systems, outages, maintenance activities, or project deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage enterprise firewalls, including rule configuration, validation, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Provide operational support and administration for a large-scale Microsoft Active Directory environment.
  • Manage and maintain an enterprise remote-access VPN solution, including configuration changes, upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting.
  • Support major cybersecurity and infrastructure initiatives as a technical project resource.
  • Manage enterprise DNS infrastructure, including configuration changes and resolution of DNS-related issues.
  • Support and manage enterprise DDoS mitigation services within a Managed Security Services environment.
  • Investigate, analyze, and respond to cybersecurity alerts and incidents using Microsoft 365 Defender / Microsoft Defender technologies.
  • Assist with security risk assessments, vulnerability scanning, remediation activities, security audits, and compliance-related requests.
  • Provide advanced Tier 3 technical support and resolve complex security and infrastructure issues.
  • Lead or participate in technical troubleshooting sessions, customer discussions, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams, external vendors, technology partners, and customer IT staff.
  • Assist in developing strategies to maintain, enhance, and improve existing cybersecurity services.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively with both technical teams and customers.
  • Experience providing advanced or Tier 3 infrastructure/security support.
  • Ability to work effectively in a large enterprise environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
