Job description
SFCC provides a high-quality, geographically, financially and emotionally accessible education to more than 4,000 students who range from traditional college-age students to adult learners. The college offers associate of arts, associate of fine arts, associate of science and associate of applied science degrees, professional and skills certificates, and noncredit courses and programs, and workforce development training in a 14-county area in central Missouri with locations in Sedalia, Boonville, Clinton, Lake of the Ozarks, Whiteman Air Force Base, Jefferson City and online. Position Purpose: We are looking for qualified candidates to teach various classes within the Business, Management & Technology Pathway during future semesters either online or at the main campus in Sedalia.
Not all positions are needed currently, but we are trying to build a pool of qualified faculty as needs arise in future semesters. These are part-time positions based solely on need each semester with no benefits. Courses under this category include Accounting, Microcomputer Applications, Business, Human Relations, Marketing, Business Management, Economics, software development and programming, Network administration, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence and Web Development.
Responsibilities will include: Deliver quality instruction that incorporates active learning and promotes student engagement; facilitate discussion; design, assign, and evaluate student work; and provide timely and constructive feedback within 7 days of the due date Ensure provided course shell delivery/due dates and syllabus are prepared prior to class start Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student growth and learning. Provide appropriate academic support and guidance to students and timely responses to student inquiries within 24 business hours Meet academic reporting and final grade entry deadlines Assess student learning through a variety of methods, including exams, quizzes, papers, and projects. All faculty must use the grading rubric for the designated learning outcomes assignment in the course.
Maintain communication with Lead Instructor and Associate Dean Utilize Canvas (SFCC's Learning Management System) approved technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning. Complete required professional development training offered through State Fair Community College Comply with all College and Program policies while maintaining professional conduct. The preceding duties have been provided as examples of the essential types of work performed by positions within this job classification.
Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments as needed. Minimum of Associate's Degree in the subject matter or related field combined with certifications, field experience and teaching/training experience required for Computer Sciences courses Bachelor's degree in the subject matter or related field preferred for Computer Sciences courses Master's degree or at least 18 graduate hours in the subject matter or related field required for business-related courses Preference is given to those with teaching or training experience and industry experience. Desired applicants should demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, a passion for education, an understanding of the community college population, a commitment to the mission and vision of SFCC, and a concern for rigorous academic standards, retention and outcomes assessment, and the mastery of active learning techniques in the classroom.
