Special Instructions to Applicants
Courses needing adjunct instruction varyfrom semester to semester. Assignments are determined based on expertise ofapplicants. Applications for this position will be accepted on an ongoing basisand will be reviewed as needed.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in theUnited States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship. TheUniversity will not sponsor applicants for work visas (e.g., H-1B).Job SummaryThis position covers occasional adjunctteaching responsibilities in the dance program. This can include courses in dance history and theory, as well as in studio technique, depending on candidate's area of expertise and qualifications.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Instruction of assigned classes.
  2. Provide interim and final grades for enrolledstudents.
  3. Completing required assessment activities.
  4. Provide datafor General Education Curriculum assessment based onstudent achievement in the course as needed.
  5. Be available to student through officehours (face to face or virtual).
  6. Collaborating with faculty as necessary.
  7. Be responsive to students and director/staff via USM email.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsMFA or PhD in Dance or appropriaterelated field, or equivalent professional experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Experience in instructing dance techniques and other dancesubjects as determined by the needs of the program.

Preferred QualificationsExperience instructing dance in a higher education setting.
