Job description

Trident Consulting is seeking a "Mechanical Engineering Technician" for one of our clients in "Burlington, MA", a global leader in medical technology and pharmaceutical industry.
Role: Mechanical Engineering Technician
Type: Contract
Work Location: Onsite (Burlington, MA)
Rate: $48.65/hr on w2
Education: High School Diploma required. Engineering degree or related technical studies are a plus, but not required.
Soft Skills / Cultural Fit for This Role:
• Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude
• Critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with engineers
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced prototype/lab environment
What Type of Background or Profile Has Worked Well in This Position:
• Several years of hands-on experience with electromechanical capital equipment
• Mechanical Engineering Technician, Mechanical Technician, Engineering Technician, or strong Assembly Technician backgrounds
• Experience supporting prototype builds, testing, and documentation activities
• Medical device experience preferred, but not required
• Strong experience with troubleshooting, mechanical assembly, and test support
Nice-to-have experience includes:
- 3D printing and slicer software
- IEC 60601-1 or ISO 13485 regulated environments
- Oracle PLM or Helix ALM
- CAD exposure (not a hard requirement, but a plus)
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
• Support engineers with hands-on prototype development, assembly, modification, and testing activities
• Build and test mechanical and electromechanical systems including thermal, structural, fluidic, vibration, sound, and kinematic testing
• Collect, compile, and analyze test data and generate technical reports
• Assist with documenting assembly processes and creating work instructions
• Support design transfer activities and sustaining engineering efforts including redlining and replacement component testing
• Assist with mechanical parts procurement, prototype support, and engineering lab activities
• Work closely with electrical and optical engineering teams during development and testing phases
Additional Notes:
• The team is specifically looking for a candidate who can "hit the ground running" with minimal hand-holding
• This role was intentionally revised to avoid attracting overqualified design engineers and instead focus on strong hands-on technicians
• CAD is not a hard requirement but remains a strong plus
• Please prioritize candidates with strong testing/documentation experience tied to electromechanical systems
