Koniag IT Systems LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Security Manager with a Secret security clearance to support KITS and our government customer in Smyrna, GA. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity.

Koniag IT Systems, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Senior Security Manager to oversee Cybersecurity Service Operations (CSO) and serve as the single point contact in support of our government customer. The ideal candidate is a seasoned cybersecurity professional with broad expertise across multiple security domains, including Cybersecurity Governance, Identity Protection and Management, Data Protection, Incident Management, Vulnerability Management, Digital Forensics, Insider Threat, and Endpoint Security. An active ADP-II/Secret clearance is required for this position.


The Senior Security Manager will oversee Cybersecurity Service Operations (CSO) supporting this functional area IAW NIST SP 800-181, providing guidance, assisting with risk assessments, and supporting risk management activities for our government customer.

Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the single point of contact for the Government, ensuring seamless communication and coordination between the technical team and government stakeholders.
  • Oversee and manage Cybersecurity Service Operations (CSO), ensuring the delivery of high-quality cybersecurity services in alignment with DoW requirements and applicable federal standards.
  • Produce and maintain cybersecurity guidance, policies, and procedures to support operational security requirements and organizational compliance objectives.
  • Assist with risk assessments and risk management activities, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending appropriate mitigation strategies to protect information systems and data.
  • Provide expert leadership and oversight across key security domains, including:
  • Cybersecurity Governance
  • Identity Protection and Management
  • Data Protection
  • Incident Management
  • Vulnerability Management
  • Digital Forensics
  • Insider Threat
  • Endpoint Security
  • Ensure compliance with applicable NIST Special Publications, ISO standards, and DoD Instructions, Policies, and Directives governing cybersecurity operations.
  • Lead and coordinate incident response efforts, ensuring timely detection, containment, and remediation of security incidents affecting government information systems.
  • Oversee vulnerability management processes, including the identification, prioritization, and remediation of vulnerabilities across the enterprise.
  • Support insider threat program activities, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to detect, deter, and mitigate insider threats to government systems and data.
  • Provide strategic guidance and technical direction to team members supporting CSO functions, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Develop and present security briefings, reports, and recommendations to senior government leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Monitor the evolving cybersecurity threat landscape and provide recommendations to adapt security operations and posture accordingly.

 

Education and Experience:
Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in Information Technology Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Extensive experience in the required discipline may serve as a substitution for the Bachelor's Degree requirement.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience performing U.S. Federal Government cybersecurity service operation functions.
  • Without a Bachelor's Degree, a minimum of 10+ years of experience performing U.S. Federal Government cybersecurity service operation functions is required.
  • Certified in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M/8140.01 (or most current DoD guidance) as IAT Level II and CSSP Analyst.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Exceptional communication skills in English – both written and oral – with the ability to effectively communicate complex cybersecurity concepts and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior government leadership.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Cybersecurity Governance, Identity Protection and Management, Data Protection, Incident Management, Vulnerability Management, Digital Forensics, Insider Threat, and Endpoint Security.
  • In-depth knowledge of NIST Special Publications, ISO cybersecurity standards, and DoW Instructions, Policies, and Directives governing cybersecurity operations.
  • Extensive experience overseeing and managing Cybersecurity Service Operations (CSO) within a DoW environment.
  • Proven ability to lead risk assessments and develop risk management strategies to protect federal information systems and data.
  • Experience developing and maintaining cybersecurity policies, procedures, and guidance documents in support of operational and compliance requirements.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to provide technical direction and mentorship to cybersecurity professionals.
  • Ability to serve as the primary point of contact and liaison between technical teams and government stakeholders on all cybersecurity service operations matters.
  • Experience leading and coordinating incident response activities, including detection, containment, eradication, and recovery efforts.
  • Active ADP-II/Secret clearance.

Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) platforms and other security operations tools used within federal or DoW environments.
  • Familiarity with additional cybersecurity frameworks such as FISMA, FedRAMP, or CMMC.
  • Knowledge of zero trust architecture principles and their application within DoW or federal environments.
  • Additional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or other relevant cybersecurity credentials beyond the minimum DoD 8570.01-M/8140.01 requirements.
  • Experience with digital forensics tools and methodologies, including experience supporting investigations within a federal government environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud security operations and the application of cybersecurity controls within cloud-hosted environments.
  • Experience developing and delivering cybersecurity awareness training programs for government personnel.
  • Knowledge of insider threat detection tools, methodologies, and program management best practices within a federal or DoW context.
