Job description

Part - Time Instructor, Cybersecurity - FY 2027 Job Description

The CSN CIT Cybersecurity program is looking for part-timeinstructors for instructing in Cybersecurity/network securitycourses. Teaching assignments may include classroom courses basedin any of the three CSN locations: Charleston, North Las Vegas, andHenderson OR remote course based on availability.

Responsibilities of a Part-Time Cybersecurity Instructor in theComputing and Information Technology department include but are notlimited to:
  • Lecture and Lab instruction for Information Technology Courses.Course assignments may be multi-campus with the possibility of day,evening and/or weekend classes. Courses may be delivered online, orbe delivered as a hybrid, online and in person.
  • Develop Lesson Plans, and course materials in conjunction with Program Director Evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomes.
  • Provide an excellent teaching experience as well as studentadvisement, recruitment activities and program/curriculumdevelopment.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited College/University(technical, business or other 4-year degree that might beappropriate) in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, ComputerScience, or a related field.
  • Teaching experience at the College ,University , or at aworkplace
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of practical experience working incybersecurity roles such as security analyst, network securityengineer, or penetration tester.
  • Experience with areas such as threat analysis, incidentresponse, ethical hacking, network security, risk management, orsecurity operations.
  • Familiarity with industry tools (e.g., Wireshark, Nmap, KaliLinux, SIEM platforms, etc.) and the latest cybersecurity trendsand technologies.
  • Master's or terminal/doctorate degree in computer science,cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Experience with any Learning Management System (e.g. Canvas,Blackboard, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Mac, Windows, and Linux
  • CompTIA Security+ or similar foundational certifications.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional(CISSP).
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).
  • Certified Network Defender (CND).
  • Other cybersecurity certifications relevant to the area beingtaught (e.g., penetration testing, network security, cloudsecurity).
