What is a cybersecurity company?

A cybersecurity company is an organization that specializes in protecting the digital assets, networks, and data of individuals and businesses from cyber threats such as hacking, malware, and data breaches. These companies provide a range of services including threat detection, risk assessment, incident response, and security consulting. They also develop and implement security solutions like firewalls, antivirus software, and encryption tools to safeguard sensitive information. By staying up to date with evolving cyber threats, cybersecurity companies help prevent unauthorized access and ensure compliance with security regulations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive at a cybersecurity company, and why are they important?

To thrive at a cybersecurity company, you need a solid understanding of network security, risk assessment, and incident response, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with security tools such as firewalls, SIEM platforms, penetration testing software, and certifications like CISSP or CEH is typical. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are valuable soft skills for excelling in this environment. These skills and qualifications are crucial for identifying threats, safeguarding data, and ensuring robust protection for clients or organizations.

What are some common challenges faced when working in a cybersecurity company, and how can they be addressed?

Our Cyber Range as a Service (CRaaS) platform provides immersive, hands-on cybersecurity training and simulation environments that enable organizations to train teams, validate skills, and prepare for real-world cyber incidents in a secure virtual setting. Our clients include government agencies, defense organizations, educational institutions, and commercial enterprises seeking advanced cyber workforce development solutions.

We are expanding our team and looking for a high-performing Sales & Business Development Executive to lead growth initiatives for this emerging offering.

The ideal candidate combines strong consultative sales skills with the ability to understand cybersecurity training challenges and communicate technical value to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This role requires a proactive hunter mentality, strong relationship-building capabilities, and experience managing complex sales cycles.

Candidates with experience selling cybersecurity, SaaS, IT training, simulation platforms, or government-focused technology solutions are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Develop tailored presentations, demonstrations, and proposals aligned to customer mission requirements and training objectives.

Strategic Relationship Management

  • Establish trusted relationships with key decision-makers, stakeholders, and strategic partners.
  • Serve as a consultative advisor by understanding customer challenges and aligning CRaaS capabilities to business and operational needs.
  • Identify opportunities for account expansion, renewals, and cross-functional solution offerings.

Market Expansion & Product Positioning

  • Monitor cybersecurity industry trends, workforce development initiatives, and competitive offerings to identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal leadership, marketing, and technical teams to refine go-to-market strategies and messaging.
  • Represent XSI at cybersecurity conferences, industry events, webinars, and networking engagements.

Sales Operations & Performance Tracking

  • Maintain accurate pipeline activity, forecasting, and customer engagement records within CRM platforms.
  • Provide regular reporting on revenue performance, pipeline health, market feedback, and sales strategy execution.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools and automation platforms to improve prospecting efficiency, proposal development, and customer engagement.

Why Join XSI?

At XSI, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to a rapidly growing cybersecurity company focused on innovation, workforce development, and mission impact. We offer an entrepreneurial environment where high performers can make a measurable impact and grow alongside the organization.
