Job description

About Adaptive
NVIDIA and OpenAI's only AI cybersecurity investment.
Adaptive is a cybersecurity startup on a mission to stop AI-powered cyberattacks. In December 2025, the company announced an $81M Series B led by NVIDIA and Bain Capital Ventures, with participation from Capital One Ventures, Citi Ventures, and continued support from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), the OpenAI Startup Fund, and Abstract Ventures. The round marked NVIDIA's first AI cybersecurity investment.
Adaptive was founded by Brian Long and Andrew Jones, repeat entrepreneurs who have built and scaled category-defining companies. Brian and Andrew previously co-founded Attentive, which grew to more than $500M in annual revenue and a $10B+ valuation, and TapCommerce, which was acquired by Twitter. Together, they bring deep experience building high-growth, product-led businesses at massive scale as Adaptive builds the security layer for the AI era.
Trusted by leading banks, technology companies, and healthcare organizations, Adaptive protects teams from emerging threats like deepfakes, smishing, and AI-powered voice scams. With rapid enterprise adoption and a $200B+ market ahead, the company is just getting started.
Role
Adaptive Security is the fastest growing company in AI cybersecurity. We've raised over $140 million from a16z and are the only AI cyber investment made by both OpenAI and NVIDIA. The company was founded by three time successful founders.
We're looking for a Chief of Staff to work directly with our Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer (CPO). You'll help run the New York City office and R&D organization across engineering, product, and design. The role is dynamic. You'll attend key meetings, own strategic projects, build models and analyses, draft communications, and identify and fix process gaps. One week you might be overhauling our recruiting process. The next you're analyzing global R&D spend or researching a new market we're thinking about entering.
The right person has a top academic record, 1-4 years of experience in consulting, PE, VC, or a startup, and is analytically sharp. You're a strong communicator, a self-starter, and you have a bias toward action. You're already using AI heavily in your work or personal life. You're comfortable being always on - there will be late nights and weekends.
This is a tour of duty role. People who've done it have gone on to become Product Managers and department heads. If you want to move fast, take on real responsibility early, and eventually start something yourself, this is a great place to learn.
The role is five days a week in person at our New York City office.
Responsibilities
  • Attend key meetings on behalf of or alongside the CPO, take ownership of follow ups, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks
  • Own strategic projects end to end... examples include improving our R&D recruiting process, analyzing global R&D spend for optimization opportunities, and researching new markets we're considering entering
  • Build models, dashboards, and analyses that help the CPO make faster and better decisions
  • Draft communications, memos, and presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Identify process gaps across the R&D org and drive improvements without being asked
  • Serve as connective tissue between the CPO and the broader team, ensuring context flows in both directions
  • The role is very dynamic and fast paced. You will work on a variety of different things and get exposure to all facets of the business.

Qualifications
  • Degree from a top university with a strong academic record
  • 2-6 years of experience in consulting, private equity, venture capital, or a fast-moving startup
  • Extremely hardworking and accountable. You do what you say you'll do, and you do it fast.
  • Analytically strong and comfortable with numbers. You can build a model, structure a dataset, and present findings clearly.
  • AI-native. You're either already using AI heavily in your work and personal life, or you're highly motivated to make it a core part of how you operate here.
  • A strong communicator in writing and in person
  • A self-starter who can be handed a messy problem with minimal context and find their way to a clear output
  • Someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment and has a bias toward action
  • Comfortable being always on. This role moves at the speed of a startup. There will be late nights and weekends.
  • Genuinely ambitious. You want to have a big impact and you're willing to put in the work to make that happen. This isn't just a job to you.

Growth
This is a tour of duty role where at some point you will graduate to another role at the company. People who have held this role previously have gone on to become Product Managers as well as running their own large departments. This is one of the fastest ways imaginable to accelerate early in your career. It's also a natural fit if you're thinking about starting a company one day. You'll report directly to the Co-Founder and CPO.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Competitive cash compensation and meaningful stock.
  • Several medical plans to choose from, most covered at 100% by Adaptive.
  • 401k through Vestwell.
  • Unlimited PTO, including winter break from Dec 24 - Jan 1.
  • A fantastic office atmosphere including coffee, espresso, lounge, snacks, whiteboards, and tons of conference space.
  • Rotating choice of 4 free lunch options from local restaurants every day.
  • Expense dinner if you're in the office past 7pm. Expense Uber if you happen to stay past 9pm.

Environment
This role is located in New York City, and requires the candidate to work from our office in New York City five days a week.
If you are eager to apply your skills in a dynamic, collaborative environment, and are passionate about building systems that are both powerful and accessible, we would love to hear from you.
