TECH OPPS OVERVIEW

Bain Capital Tech Opportunities is an affiliate of Bain Capital established to invest in growing technology businesses. We partner with exceptional entrepreneurs and management teams to help them succeed through critical phases of growth and expansion. WHY THIS ROLE IS UNIQUE

This role sits at the intersection of building AI and investing. You'll work alongside the Tech Opps Growth Equity team to identify, evaluate, and help deploy AI tools that make every stage of the investment process smarter, faster, and more data-driven. You'll help shape how we approach investing with dramatically changing AI tools - requiring teamwork and a deep curiosity for emerging technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with investment professionals to identify high-value use cases, translate business needs into technical projects, and deliver functional tools.
  • Prototype and evaluate AI tools (LLMs, agents, data enrichment, automation frameworks, etc.) that can improve decision-making and team efficiency.
  • Build AI solutions to streamline all aspects of the investment process - from sourcing and market mapping to due diligence and portfolio analytics.
  • Manage pilots with leading AI vendors, evaluate their fit, and lead implementations when appropriate.
  • Act as an internal "AI champion" - helping train the team on new capabilities and ensuring adoption of the most useful tools and workflows.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Business and tech fluency - comfortable engaging with AI concepts, tools, and vendors
  • Structured problem-solving - able to define ambiguous questions, research, and develop clear frameworks or recommendations.
  • Curiosity and experimentation mindset- someone who loves exploring new technologies and who is hands-on, wanting to build and experiment firsthand
  • Strong communication skills - able to distill technical ideas for investment audiences and influence adoption.
  • Grit and bias to action- a "doer", someone who gets things done without overcomplicating.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-4 years of professional experience (can include internships or project work).
  • Experience with Python, data APIs, or lightweight web/app development a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, vibe coding, and modern AI tools.
  • Prior exposure to finance, investing, consulting or data-heavy analysis environments helpful but not necessary.

COMPENSATION

Expected Annual Base Salary: $95,000 - $110,000

This is the expected annual base salary range for this position.Actual base salary will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to role, function, level, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based upon factors such as individual impact, team and firm performance.
