About the role
The Cybersecurity Engineer we hire for this role will work to identify and mitigate cybersecurity vulnerabilities for a ground system for a new United States Space Force (USSF) satellite constellation. This person will work with the program's engineering team to architect, develop and sell-off products to a government customer. Work will include configuration development, Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance and testing, and delivery of a secure environment for Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) mission operations. Ideally, this candidate has experience in Risk Management Framework (RMF). We consider experience with OPIR missions to be a significant bonus for this role.
Please note: this role is required to be onsite in Boulder.
What you'll do
Key responsibilities for the Cybersecurity Engineer include:
  • Develop Cyber Plans and Procedures for an environment that consists of, amongst other technologies, Containerized Software Applications, Juniper network devices, Red Hat Linux, Red Hat Identity Manager, Jenkins, IBM AIX, iSCSI Storage, VSAN, ESXi, AND VMWare
  • Work with Systems Engineers to develop solutions that manage cybersecurity risks within systems
  • Look for opportunities to automate cyber workflows through Ansible, Python, and Bash scripting
  • Maintain Cybersecurity tools, development, and code repositories in gitlab
  • Perform cybersecurity scans, analyze results and harden systems
  • Generate documentation required to achieve approval to operate systems
  • Serve as a key member of the test team by leading cyber test events, conducting technical security assessments, and coordinating directly with customers and ASCA stakeholders throughout test execution
  • Interface with the customer, leveraging strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail
  • Deliver regular demonstrations and presentations to customers on cybersecurity processes, tools, and automation techniques

Required Qualifications
  • Must hold DoD Secret Clearance, at minimum
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Computer Science (Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in CyberSecurity Engineering
  • Experience with cyber tools, including ACAS and HBSS
  • Strong understanding of Cybersecurity frameworks and standards
  • Experience running DISA SCAP Scan and working with DISA STIGs for operating systems, network devices, and other infrastructure related services (LDAP, AD, ESXi, Virtual Machines)
  • Ability to work with system and security SMEs to harden and mitigate vulnerabilities identified by cyber tools
  • Experience with incident response and management
  • Ability to communicate technical information via oral presentation and written format
  • Strong focus on internal and external customer success
  • Ability to work full time onsite in Boulder

Preferred/Bonus Qualifications
  • Possess CompTIA Security+ and CISSP or similar certifications
  • Cybersecurity engineering experience with embedded systems development for DoD
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, programming languages, and operating systems
  • Familiar with Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Understanding of ethical hacking and penetration
  • Experience working within an agile workflow
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR)
  • Automate system processes through the development and maintenance of custom Ansible playbooks and scripts

Expected Salary Range
Depending on experience and skillset, most candidates will earn between $120,000 and $160,000 per year.
