Job Summary:
Apex IT and Cybersecurity Solutions is a leading IT and Cybersecurity services firm based in Chicago, IL. They are seeking a highly motivated Jr. Cybersecurity Analyst to enhance, secure, and protect assets and data through incident response and handling support.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Assist with all events and incidents from beginning to end.
โ€ข Follow procedures and managerial guidance and recommendations for incident containment, validation, and eradication.
โ€ข Support incident remediation and recovery efforts.
โ€ข Investigate and determine the nature of security events and alerts.
โ€ข Confirm if an event meets the criteria of a cybersecurity incident.
โ€ข Assist with initial triage and create incident tickets.
โ€ข Utilize the Cybersecurity Threat Framework to classify incidents.
โ€ข Analyze event and alert data to validate security incidents.
โ€ข Create and update incident tickets with concise and relevant information.
โ€ข Follow incident notification escalation procedures.
โ€ข Validate and assign severity levels to security events.
โ€ข Identify event and incident correlations and suggest mitigation actions.
โ€ข Create and provide incident reports for confirmed incidents.
โ€ข Continuously update incident reports and coordinate with team to resolve cybersecurity incidents.
โ€ข Follow incident response guidelines and industry best practices.
โ€ข Daily review and update of all opened tickets in your purview.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Experience and basic understanding of security technologies including SIEM, SOAR, IDS/IPS, EDR, and network monitoring tools.
โ€ข Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
โ€ข Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
โ€ข Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 2+ years of prior relevant experience or 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
โ€ข Have one or more of the following industry certifications in good standing: EC-Council's Certified Incident Handler (E|CIH), GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH), Incident Handling & Response Professional (IHRP), Certified Computer Security Incident Handler (CSIH), Certified Incident Handling Engineer (CIHE), EC-Council's Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
