Job Summary

Play a critical role in leading and shaping the organization's cyber defense strategies and capabilities. Oversee the engineering and implementation of defensive cybersecurity measures to protect systems, networks, and data assets. Lead a team of engineers in designing, implementing, and maintaining effective cybersecurity solutions.

Role is onsite in Washington DC, Philadelphia, PA, Wilmington, DE, or Chicago, IL.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for cyber defense engineering aligned with organizational goals, industry best practices, and emerging threats.
  • Lead and mentor a team of cybersecurity engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in cyber defense engineering.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of cybersecurity solutions to protect against advanced threats, vulnerabilities, and attacks. This includes selecting and integrating security technologies, tools, and methodologies into systems and infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain incident response plans and procedures to effectively respond to and mitigate cybersecurity incidents. Lead incident response activities, including investigation, analysis, and remediation of security incidents, while collaborating with threat intelligence teams.
  • Assess cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities, and develop risk mitigation strategies to protect critical assets. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and organizational policies related to cybersecurity through regular security assessments and audits.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 11 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team of cybersecurity engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence
  • Strong technical background in cybersecurity engineering, including knowledge of security technologies, tools, and methodologies
  • Skill in developing and implementing strategic visions for cyber defense engineering aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices
  • Proficiency in incident response activities, including investigation, analysis, and remediation of security incidents, as well as development and maintenance of incident response plans
  • Capability to assess cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities and develop risk mitigation strategies to protect critical assets
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and organizational policies related to cybersecurity, and ability to ensure compliance through regular security assessments and audits
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and to collaborate across teams
  • Ability to think strategically and anticipate future cybersecurity trends and threats, and to develop proactive measures to address them

The salary/hourly range is $179,300.00 - $232,416.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
