Job Description:

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is seeking a Director of Enterprise Security Architecture to lead the development and execution of enterprise security architecture strategy, standards, patterns, and reference architectures that enable secure business transformation across the company.

Reporting to the Vice President of Enterprise Cyber Security, this leader will manage a team of security architects responsible for defining security blueprints, architecture patterns, and strategic technology direction that guide secure engineering and technology adoption across HPE. The role serves as a key partner to Enterprise Architecture, Engineering, Infrastructure, Product Security, and Risk Management teams to ensure security is embedded into technology decisions and business initiatives.

This position plays a critical role in governing architectural decisions through engagement with the Enterprise Architecture Review Board (ARB), influencing enterprise technology strategy, and establishing architectural guidance for emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, and autonomous systems.

Key Responsibilities

Security Architecture Leadership

  • Lead and develop a global team of enterprise security architects.

  • Establish and maintain the enterprise security architecture vision, strategy, and roadmap.

  • Define and govern enterprise security architecture principles, standards, blueprints, reference architectures, and design patterns.

  • Drive consistent security architecture practices across infrastructure, cloud, application, data, identity, and emerging technology domains.

  • Build a culture of technical excellence, innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the architecture organization.

Enterprise Architecture & Governance

  • Serve as the primary security representative to enterprise architecture governance processes and the Architecture Review Board (ARB).

  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture leaders to ensure security requirements are integrated into enterprise technology standards and strategic roadmaps.

  • Provide architectural guidance and risk-based decision support for major technology initiatives and investments.

  • Review and approve security architecture designs for critical enterprise programs and transformational initiatives.

  • Establish architecture review processes, governance models, and decision frameworks that balance security, business objectives, operational efficiency, and developer experience.

Security Strategy & Engineering Enablement

  • Develop enterprise security reference architectures and implementation patterns that enable secure-by-design engineering practices.

  • Translate security strategy into actionable architectural guidance for engineering, infrastructure, cloud, and application teams.

  • Partner closely with security engineering teams to ensure architectural standards are practical, scalable, and operationalized.

  • Identify opportunities to simplify, modernize, and standardize security capabilities across the enterprise.

  • Drive adoption of modern architectural approaches including Zero Trust, cloud-native security, platform security, identity-centric security, and security automation.

AI Security Architecture

  • Define architectural strategy, standards, and governance for AI and Generative AI technologies across HPE.

  • Establish security architecture patterns for AI platforms, model development, model deployment, agentic systems, data protection, and AI governance.

  • Partner with business and technology leaders to evaluate emerging AI technologies and associated risks.

  • Provide thought leadership regarding secure adoption of AI, LLMs, autonomous agents, and future AI-enabled capabilities.

  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, privacy, and risk teams to align AI security controls with regulatory and corporate requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build trusted relationships with senior technology and business leaders across the enterprise.

  • Influence strategic decisions through architectural leadership, technical expertise, and effective communication.

  • Present architecture strategy, risk assessments, and recommendations to executive leadership and governance forums.

  • Act as a key advisor on enterprise security architecture matters.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field.

  • 12+ years of experience in information security, cybersecurity architecture, enterprise architecture, or related technology disciplines.

  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing architecture teams or senior technical professionals.

  • Deep expertise across multiple security domains.

  • Experience establishing enterprise architecture standards, governance processes, and technology roadmaps.

  • Demonstrated success influencing large-scale technology decisions in complex global enterprises.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture methodologies and frameworks.

  • Experience engaging with architecture review boards, governance councils, or enterprise architecture organizations.

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and executive communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting complex global enterprises.

  • Professional cybersecurity certifications such as: CISSP, SABSA, TOGAF, CCSP, CISM, GIAC certifications

  • Experience implementing security architecture in hybrid cloud and multi-cloud environments.
