Job Description

The CSN CIT Cybersecurity program is looking for part-time instructors for instructing in Cybersecurity/network security courses. Teaching assignments may include classroom courses based in any of the three CSN locations: Charleston, North Las Vegas, and Henderson OR remote course based on availability.

Responsibilities of a Part-Time Cybersecurity Instructor in the Computing and Information Technology department include but are not limited to:

  • Lecture and Lab instruction for Information Technology Courses. Course assignments may be multi-campus with the possibility of day, evening and/or weekend classes. Courses may be delivered online, or be delivered as a hybrid, online and in person.

  • Develop Lesson Plans, and course materials in conjunction with Program Director Evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomes.

  • Provide an excellent teaching experience as well as student advisement, recruitment activities and program/curriculum development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited College/University (technical, business or other 4-year degree that might be appropriate) in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Teaching experience at the College ,University , or at a workplace

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of practical experience working in cybersecurity roles such as security analyst, network security engineer, or penetration tester.

  • Experience with areas such as threat analysis, incident response, ethical hacking, network security, risk management, or security operations.

  • Familiarity with industry tools (e.g., Wireshark, Nmap, Kali Linux, SIEM platforms, etc.) and the latest cybersecurity trends and technologies.

  • Master's or terminal/doctorate degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or related field.

  • Experience with any Learning Management System (e.g. Canvas, Blackboard, etc.)

  • Familiarity with Mac, Windows, and Linux

  • CompTIA Security+ or similar foundational certifications.

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).

  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).

  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).

  • Certified Network Defender (CND).

  • Other cybersecurity certifications relevant to the area being taught (e.g., penetration testing, network security, cloud security).
