They implement security measures, monitor for vulnerabilities, and respond to security incidents, often using tools like firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and security certifications. Their goal is to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of digital information.

How much do cyber security agents make?

Salaries vary based on experience, certifications, location, and the complexity of security environments they manage.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in a cyber security agency, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in a cyber security agency often encounter challenges such as staying updated with rapidly evolving threats, managing a high volume of security alerts, and effectively communicating technical risks to non-technical stakeholders. To address these challenges, agencies typically invest in continuous training, utilize advanced monitoring tools that help prioritize critical threats, and foster a collaborative environment where team members can share knowledge and best practices. Additionally, developing strong communication skills can be crucial for explaining complex security issues and ensuring organizational buy-in for security initiatives.

Achieving this level typically requires extensive experience, advanced certifications like CISSP or CISM, and working in high-demand industries or large organizations. Entry- and mid-level roles generally have lower salary ranges.

They may work with governments, businesses, or the public to improve cybersecurity awareness and resilience. Their work is crucial in safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining trust in digital systems.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a Cyber Security Agency, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Cyber Security Agency, you need expertise in information security principles, risk assessment, and proficiency in network and system protection, often supported by a degree in computer science or cybersecurity and relevant certifications. Familiarity with security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, SIEM platforms, and certifications like CISSP, CEH, or CompTIA Security+ are commonly required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help professionals respond rapidly to threats and collaborate with diverse teams. These competencies are vital for safeguarding sensitive data, mitigating cyber threats, and ensuring the organization's digital resilience.

Agency Cybersecurity is fast growing venture-backed startup that provides best-in-class cybersecurity and compliance. Our software and services simplify complex compliance frameworks including SOC2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and others, empowering businesses to scale securely and confidently. Location: New York, NY (100% In person)
Employment Type: Full-Time (Hourly, Non-Exempt)
Compensation: $20-$25 per hour + overtime (Typical annual earnings: $57,000-$72,000 including overtime)
About the Role
We are seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented Junior Project Manager to support cross-functional initiatives across customer operations, customer success, finance & billing, and internal business operations.
This is a floating, high-impact role designed for someone who thrives in fast-paced startup environments, enjoys wearing multiple hats, and wants exposure to how a high-growth company actually runs behind the scenes.
You will work directly with senior leaders and department heads to keep projects organized, on schedule, and moving forward. You will use modern project management platforms and AI tools to streamline workflows, eliminate bottlenecks, and ensure execution excellence.
If you enjoy structure, speed, accountability, and learning how businesses scale - this role is for you.
What You'll Do
  • Coordinate and track cross-functional projects across customer success, operations, finance, and internal initiatives
  • Maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and deliverables
  • Monitor task completion and proactively follow up with stakeholders
  • Support client-facing project coordination and onboarding processes
  • Assist with billing, invoicing, documentation, and operational reporting
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and propose improvements
  • Use project management software (e.g., Asana, ClickUp, Monday, etc.) to manage task flow
  • Leverage AI tools to automate tracking, reporting, documentation, and communication
  • Prepare executive summaries and internal performance updates
  • Jump in where needed - this role floats across departments

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 2+ years of work experience in business operations, consulting, customer success, finance, or similar operational role
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Technically proficient and comfortable using modern SaaS tools
  • Curious, adaptable, and solution-oriented
  • Thrives in fast-paced, high-accountability environments

Bonus if you:
  • Have startup experience
  • Have worked in professional services, consulting, or compliance-driven industries
  • Have experience using AI tools to increase productivity

Work Environment & Expectations
  • Hourly, non-exempt role
  • $20-$25 per hour, depending on experience
  • Overtime expected during high-volume periods (up to ~50 hours per week)
  • Typical total annual compensation ranges from $57,000-$72,000, including overtime
  • High ownership, high growth, high expectations
  • This role is ideal for someone early in their career who wants to accelerate learning, gain exposure to multiple business functions, and grow into senior operations, strategy, or leadership roles.

Why This Role is a Career Accelerator
You will:
  • See how strategy turns into execution
  • Work directly with decision-makers
  • Learn how high-growth companies manage complexity
  • Develop operational discipline and leadership skills
  • This is not a passive support role - it is an execution engine position inside a scaling organization.

Benefits:
We believe in rewarding hard work with meaningful perks that support your growth, health, and well-being.
  • 10 days of paid time off (PTO)
  • 11 paid federal holidays
  • 401(k) with 4% company match
  • Monthly healthcare stipend
  • Gym membership stipend
  • Weekly team lunches and in-office snacks
  • Eligible for stock options grants after year 2
