Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end backup, restore, replication, failover, and disaster recovery initiatives in line with RPO/RTO standards.
- Collaborate closely with DBAs, infrastructure, security, application, and business continuity teams to ensure seamless integration of recovery processes.
- Engineer automation for recovery, validation, health checks, and resiliency reporting.
- Facilitate and execute recovery readiness, including testing, tabletop exercises, and cyber recovery simulations.
- Provide expert technical leadership during major incidents and disaster recovery events.
- Address dependencies such as authentication, DNS, certificates, and OS-level integrations (Linux/Windows).
- Support a diverse ecosystem including Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Hadoop, and graph databases.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong background in database engineering for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
- Deep understanding of Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) principles.
- Proven experience in disaster recovery planning, orchestration, and process automation.
- Proficiency in scripting or automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
- Familiarity with authentication, DNS, certificate management, and both Linux and Windows environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead recovery during cyber events or outages.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience with cyber recovery exercises or ransomware recovery strategies.
- Knowledge of zero trust, immutable storage, and cyber vault frameworks.
- Experience with cloud database resiliency in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Familiarity with enterprise backup, monitoring, and configuration management tools.
- Background working in regulated environments with audit/compliance focus.
- Relevant certifications: OCP, Azure Database Administrator Associate, AWS Database Specialty.
Benefits
- Opportunity to drive critical database recovery and resiliency programs in a leading financial environment.
- Career advancement with potential for full-time conversion and exposure to cutting-edge cyber resiliency initiatives.
- Collaborative, high-performance team culture and access to advanced tooling and technologies.
- Work onsite in downtown Manhattan 3-4 days per week, with a flexible, hybrid work environment.
