The Role
(CNC) Machinists operate various machines (manual and/or CNC) such as; lathes, mills, vertical machining centers, horizontal boring mills, etc. Inside machinists troubleshoot operations and take appropriate actions to correct. The machinists perform quality inspections, verifying dimensions of work piece are in accordance with drawing specifications. 3+ years experience
THE BONUS IS DISTRIBUTED AS FOLLOWS:
FOR OUT OF AREA/OUT OF STATE CANDIATES, THAT RESIDE 50 OR MORE MILES FROM NEWPORT NEWS SHIPBUILDING -$5000.00 in relocation bonus on your start date (this amount is grossed up)
$5000.00 SIGN ON THAT IS SUBJECT TO STATE AND FEDERAL TAXES UPON START DATE, FOR ALL OTHER CANDIDATES
Upon acceptance of the aforementioned offer of employment, along with all contingencies outlined, you acknowledge that if your employment with HII ends due to your resignation and/or a termination for violation of any NNS' Yard Regulation before the completion of 12 consecutive months of employment, you must reimburse the company the full amount of any sign-on bonus received, including withheld taxes incurred by the company on your behalf.
Your repayment to HII will be due and payable immediately upon your resignation and/or termination from employment for violation of any NNS Yard Regulation.
You hereby acknowledge and authorize HII to collect part or all of any repayment due from your final paycheck or from any other monies HII would otherwise owe you.
If the company institutes legal proceedings to recover any repayment amount due, in addition to the principal amount, you understand and agree that if the company prevails, you will be responsible to pay the company's costs of collection, including reasonable attorneys' fees and court costs

Must Have
The candidate must be able to understand written instructions and strong math skills are essential. This is a construction environment involving physical labor within a shipyard environment. Must be able to work ANY shift
Nice to Have
Prior Mechanical experience such as Automotive Repair, Plant Maintenance, Machinery Installation/Repair is a plus. Successful completion of a technical/vocational program in Machining, Diesel Technology, Automotive, HVAC, Mechanical.
