Job description

Our Partner is supporting a U.S. Government customer to provide support for onsite incident response to civilian Government agencies and critical asset owners who experience cyber-attacks, providing immediate investigation and resolution. Contract personnel perform investigations to characterize the severity of breaches, develop mitigation plans, and assist with the restoration of services. They are seeking a Cyber Technology Researcher to support this critical customer mission.
The Cyber Technology Researcher will be responsible for supporting the Threat Hunting workflows. Responsibilities include taking requirements in the Security Operations and Threat Hunting functions, identifying potential technology solutions, evaluating those solutions, developing recommendations and a deployment and integration strategy. The researcher will adhere to established procedures to document technical requirements, develop potential courses of action, and oversee the implementation of capabilities supporting the hand-off to deployment and operational organizations.
Candidates with cyber security operations, cyber threat hunting, threat intelligences analysis, cyber forensics, reverse engineering and/or data analysis and specifically the associated tools are ideal for this position.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct capability-based research into commercial and government technology solutions that address customer identified technology needs in the Cyber Threat Hunting and Security Operations areas
  • Evaluate technology solutions against identified functional and technical customer requirements. Evaluations may include hands-on capability testing of trial licenses and open-source capabilities.
  • Remain up-to-date on emerging market technologies and products that relate to capabilities that may impact customer Cyber Security and Threat Hunting operations and analysis
  • Collaborate with other organizations to maintain an inventory of customer-procured technologies, tools, and data holdings relevant to mission needs
  • Meeting with and engaging customer request submitters to clarify requirements, discuss potential solutions, and ensure alignment between technology recommendations and customer mission needs
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Active Secret Clearance, TS/SCI preferred
  • Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Entry on Duty (EOD) Suitability
  • BS Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Computer Engineering, or related degree with at least 5 years of directly relevant experience; or HS Diploma & 7-9 years of directly relevant experience
  • 5+ years of direct relevant experience in IT cyber security operations, systems integration or related fields
  • Strong understanding of federal cyber security operations and related mission environments
  • Experience managing technology pilots and production transitions
  • Experience with cyber incident response and/or cyber red teaming
  • Familiarity with malware analysis tools and cybersecurity platforms
  • Background in cybersecurity tool integration and automation
  • Strong project coordination and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to assess and mitigate operational risks
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
Desired Skills
  • DoD 8140 IAT Level II
  • Experience with CISA programs or similar federal cybersecurity operations
  • Experience with AI as it applies to data analysis and cyber security
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and integration automation practices
  • Knowledge of change management and configuration control processes
  • PMP or similar certification
  • Experience managing integrations in federated multi-stakeholder environments
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture implementation
  • Experience with cloud operations and hybrid environment management
