Their duties include performing laboratory tests, preparing animals for surgery, administering medications, and assisting in diagnostic procedures. To become a CVT, individuals must complete an accredited veterinary technology program and pass a national certification exam. CVTs play a crucial role in animal healthcare teams, ensuring that pets receive high-quality medical attention.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a cardiovascular technologist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Cardiovascular Technologist, you need a strong background in anatomy, physiology, and cardiovascular procedures, typically supported by an associate degree in cardiovascular technology or a related field and relevant certification such as RCIS or RCS. Familiarity with diagnostic imaging equipment, EKG machines, and patient monitoring systems is essential. Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are valuable soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure accurate diagnostic testing, patient safety, and effective teamwork in high-stakes clinical environments.
