What is a CVS RN?

CVs RNs, or Cardiovascular Registered Nurses, are specialized nurses who provide care to patients with heart and vascular conditions. They work closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to monitor, assess, and treat patients before and after cardiac procedures or surgeries. Their responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring vital signs, educating patients about heart health, and assisting during cardiac interventions. CVs RNs often work in hospitals, cardiac care units, or outpatient clinics, ensuring that patients receive high-quality cardiovascular care.

What are some of the most common challenges faced by a CVS RN in a hospital setting?

As a CVS RN (Cardiovascular Registered Nurse), you may encounter challenges such as managing patients with complex cardiac conditions, responding quickly to emergencies, and staying updated on rapid advancements in cardiovascular treatments. Balancing multiple high-acuity patients and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, such as cardiologists and cardiac technologists, is also common. Effective communication and strong critical thinking skills are essential to ensure patient safety and positive outcomes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CVS RN, and why are they important?

To excel as a CVS RN, you need a solid background in cardiovascular nursing, critical care, and patient assessment, typically supported by an RN license and specialized certifications like ACLS. Familiarity with cardiac monitoring systems, EHRs, and specialized equipment such as telemetry and defibrillators is crucial. Outstanding communication, teamwork, and quick decision-making skills set top performers apart in this role. These competencies are vital to providing safe, effective care for patients with complex cardiovascular conditions in high-pressure environments.

Job description

We are a well-established home care agency, proudly serving clients since 2007. We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to perform non-medical, in-home assessments for elderly clients in and around the Mankato, and Rochester MN region (clients located within a 2-3 hour drive in all directors of Mankato).

The assessment consists of talking to the client in person at their home - and asking a few questions about their non medical care needs (i.e. Bathing, dressing, grooming, light house cleanning, etc) and filling out a number of health care assessment documents.

The assessments take 30-60 minutes. Paid drive time from the person's home and back and time spent conducting the assessment compensated at $60/hour. Flexible schedule. Can work anytime from 8am to 8pm Monday through Sunday. Weekends only is acceptable. Great part time job for extra money on the side of your regular job. Active and valid RN Minnesota license is REQUIRED.

We have a contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Minneapolis. When we have need of an assessment we will reach out and you would need to get the assessment completed within 3-5 calendar days of getting notified of the new assessment, as this assessment will determine the number of hours the veteran will get approved for care each week.

Just provide your ID and tell them it is for employment. It costs $25. You will return 48-72 hours later to have it checked. Here is a list of County Health Departments: https://www.naccho.org/membership/lhd-directory . You can also do this at CVS Minute Clinics. Schedule appt. online at your local CVS. Cost is $75.
